2016 Predictions Thread!

So the "Well I got that wrong" thread made me think we could maybe make predictions for the year ahead?

Maybe then revisit at the end of the year to see how we did.

Thinking 5 predictions each. Can be completely out there if you want since it is just for fun. I would just ask that a few be for further in the year than Mania since there are so many rumours doing the rounds for Mania and before it.

Have to think of some myself so if anyone else wants to start, go ahead. Just wanted to get this posted when I thought of it.

So will AJ become WWE WHC champion? Big Show to be consistent as only one of face or heel for the full year?

2)WWE will continue their 50/50 booking and no one will get over.

3) Del Rio will fail a wellness test

4) Pentagon Jnr will sign with WWE

5) Bray Wyatts character will not progress in the slightest

Moneymaker

1) AJ Styles will be in NXT before the end of 2016
2) Daniel Bryan will either retire, or go to NJPW
3) Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar will be the WM32 main event :rolleyes:
4) RAW rating will drop under 2.0
5) The divas will go back to being the bathroom break match
6) Ambrose will win MITB
7) Roman Reigns won't go heel
8) Seth will come back as a heel :pac:
9) Lucha Underground will become a legit contender to WWE
10) Candice La Rae will either kill or be killed in the ring

AJs back injury might derail number 1 already

1. Seth Rollins will come back as a mega face, think Triple H in 2002.
2. Roman Reigns will be screwed out of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship AGAIN.
3. NXT will continue to out do the main roster.
4. Daniel Bryan to return at some point in 2016.
5. Finn Balor to be called up paired with Sheamus & Becky Lynch - Kinda wishful thinking on my part here.
6. Vince McMahon will finally step down, giving Triple H & Stephanie the proverbial keys to the kingdom.
7. CM Punk will return and all will be forgotten.


#6 is more a pipe dream than anything else

I think 10 would be the least surprising thing there :pac:

My few: Wrestle Kingdom 10 will be show of the year.

Expecting a big return (not an injury return though), maybe The Hardys.

Brooke Adams/Tessmacher will rejoin the roster.

Kevin Nash will blow out his quads again, somehow.

Sami Zayn will win a main roster title, hoping for a feud with Owens for the IC one.

Roman Reigns will finally win his 1st proper world title and wrestlemania to the sound of crickets

Lesnar won't extend his contract

AJ Styles Nakamura and Tanahashi will stage a NJPW invasion, American fans won't get it and it'll be dropped fairly fast with all 3 ending up at NXT

Balor will debut too early and flounder on the main roster

Owens will be a WWE champion by the this time next year

Baron Corbin will come up to the main roster before Finn Balor.
Roman Reigns will get into a physical altercation with a fan during one of his entrances this side of WrestleMania.

Mine were awful last year iirc.

1. Roman Reigns walks into WrestleMania as World Champion
2. Roman Reigns & John Cena feud over the World Title. Neither will turn heel.
3. Becky Lynch will be the only one of her, Sasha, Charlotte & Bayley not to win the Divas Championship.
4. Finn Balor will feud with Bray Wyatt on the main roster. He will use the Demon character to beat Bray on PPV.
5. Cesaro will main event a PPV.
6. Lana & Rusev will have an on-screen marriage. Shenanigans happen.
7. Daniel Bryan will announce his retirement on RAW, eventually lead a team (including Roman Reigns) to remove The Authority from power, be the new GM, get attacked & make his in-ring comeback against Triple H.

That last one is pure fantasy booking but if he isn't back for WM32 & is eventually declared fit to wrestle then I'd love this for WM33.

For Sheamus his current WWE Title reign to be his last one.

WWE to pair up Big Show and Hornswoggle, I know a terrifying prospect.

Kevin Owens to win MITB.

WWE to try get Conor McGregor to make an appearance.

Bray Wyatt to start more random feuds nobody cares about.

People to cheer/support Reigns both in arenas and online if he turns heel, i'm absolutely certain of this one.

A few predictions, some wild, others not so wild.

- 2016 will be the year of Tetsuya Naito. He's cracked it,he's always been an incredible wrestler but he was so bland as a face, he was just mini-Tanahashi, but now as the leader of Los Ingobernables in New Japan and with the new attitude that has brought about the man is destined for superstardom. I have no doubt that he is going to the top of the card in New Japan and I think 2016 will be the year that he gets his first run as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

- Raw stays status quo. despite the declining ratings and the negative fan reaction to each episode I don't think WWE will change the format of their premium TV show in 2016. It's clear as day that the show is stale as hell and they could draw inspiration from the likes of Lucha Underground, old NWA or Mid South shows or even WWF in the Attitude Era but they wont because it would be a risk and this is a company that no longer takes risks.

- La Sombra to be a big hit in NXT, I don't think he will be called up to the main roster by the end of 2016 but I do think he will impress in NXT and there will be a clamoring for him to be promoted to the main roster.

- Asuka to have the most impressive run in the NXT womens division of any female wrestler yet and then to be dramatically mishandled on the main roster. That prediction isn't very wild but it's what I expect.

- Suzuki-Gun to return to New Japan where they will be lost in the shuffle again. Thouggh Killer Elite Squad should add something fresh to the tag division and any singles programme involving Minoru Suzuki is gold (aside from that never ending feud with Toru Yano)

- Bullet Club falls under new ownership. 2016 should see AJ Styles relinquish his role as leader of the Bullet Club and turn face (which is what the Japanese fans want) while I think Kenny Omega could be primed to lead the Bullet Club. Some have suggested just getting rid of the faction but they are still a big merchandise seller.

- And finally, 2016 will be the year that once and for all Kazuchika Okada becomes the main man in New Japan. It starts at the Dome show on January 4th where he will finally defeat his rival Tanahashi at the Tokyo Dome and assume the position as the ace of the company and the premier wrestler in all of Japan. In my opinion the Rainmaker is the best pro wrestler on the planet and is the best equipped of any wrestler to do exactly that. I for one look forward to the glorious era of the Rainmaker!

1) Finn Balor will debut on the main rooster and after a half arsed push which fall down to lower mid card level being used to elevate the big stars esp. Roman Reigns

2) Roman Reigns will still be shoved down the throat of everyone beating up everyone and still fail to impress everyone

3) Roman Reigns gets into some type of trouble in the second half (cursing, wellness warning, drunk driving etc.) which don't stop the push

4) The Diva revolution fails and it returns back to Penthouse style models instead of people who can actually wrestle with at least one major star leaving

5) NXT recruits a major international star who gets completely mishandled and ends up leaving before the end of the year

6) Completely left field prediction; Sheamus becomes a leader of an Irish faction with himself, Finn Balor, Becky and some recruited big muscle (think Rusev as foreign merc doing anything for money) to go up against a All American Roman Reigns lead defender force with Roman consistently having to rescue the rest of his faction from defeat

Undertaker will say after the RR he has done everything at mania and would wish to sit this one out but Cena comes out and challenges him for a match at mania.

Connor Mcgregor will appear and confront Sheamus sometime in late 2016

I did not do well on my predictions  I was right about Tajiri though :D
