    Why wouldn't it be him?

Hell even Conor has an account.

There's a few stories doing the rounds not that Conor could face a 6 month medical suspension due to his left wrist.

I can't recall seeing this happen before unless there was an obvious injury, would this just be tabloid tat?

Its on a lot of MMA sites along with all the possible other medical suspensions so looks like there is something to it.

Does this raise another question of is there enough divisions?
Absolutely no one wants it to lead to boxing where there's about 20 divisions and several organisations.

The UFC is getting more popular, there's a bigger roster, there's more events and it's growing in the world massively. But the amount of champions remains the same. Are title fights too sparse?

Should UFC go to, for instance), 125 (Flyweight), 135 (Bantamweight), 145 (Featherweight), 155 (Lightweight), 165 (New Welterweight weight), 175 (Super Welterweight), 185 (Middleweight), 195 (Super-Middleweight), 205 (Light Heavyweight) and 260 (Heavyweight)?

For now it's fine, imo, the way it is but down the road, maybe even in a few short years, this might have to be looked at.

That question doesn’t come close to arising yet, way too many divisions are incredibly shallow at the minute, with at most a handful of legitimate contenders. Having weight classes so close for the bigger guys will also mean a lot more jumping between weight divisions which I don’t think is ideal when shaping weight classes.

I think more divisions could happen eventually but we’d be talking 5-10 years time.

Well it’s the official medical suspensions if that’s what you mean by ‘something to it’.

They’re given when there’s any suspicion of an injury so these reports are generally borderline worthless until the follow up test.

It seems a bit much to be even considering a test seeing it was only the one punch

Out of curiousity do they not count a fighter out when they are knocked down in UFC? I thought they would have to count you out like they do in boxing.

Its a routine check, my money is that he'll be fine.

There's always articles like this, that claim such and such a fighter will be medically suspended. I'd be shocked if it actually happens this time.

Literally google "UFC Medical Suspension", and pick any UFC Number you want, and you'll find the same stuff.

    Here's 189, for example.

Nope. Once you can't intelligently defend yourself thats it. (So just covering up doesnt count as intelligent)

Mixed MArtial Arts encompasses all fighting styles...which means they fight on the ground too... no counting is done...you win by either submission, knockout or decision...

If the referee stops the fight, then its over...once youre knocked out, the fight usually ends

it's better than a 10 count as far i can see....if you fall and you cannot defend yourself it's over in a second, ie aldo fell with his hands by his side therefore fight over.

But aldo wasn't knocked out, he was up in jig time with just a cut nose. Mcgregor was up on the side of the cage almost before aldo hit the deck. It was like he knew he was going to be declared champ.

he was knocked out...and who better to know that than conor.....the big clue for conor was probably the ref stopping it

I know you're not being serious, but he was being aided to stand by cageside officials

He took two more hits to the face while on the ground, which he was unable to defend. He was knocked out. It took him 10 or 15 seconds to pick himself up off the ground. Not sure how anyone can say otherwise.

We was "up in jig time" because the ref pulled Conor off him and stopped him from hammering Jose into the floor like a nail.

MMA is actually much safer because we don't have 10 second counts and standing counts etc. It seems almost cruel to stand a guy up who is woozy and say "right, he can count some fingers, have at him again!".

If the ref didn't stop the fight what do you think should have happened? Leave Conor whale on him? Until when? :)

A lot can happen in 2 seconds in MMA, or haven't you noticed, lol?

Have you seen the video of him ? He didn't even know what had happened, they had to tell him it was over, ala Ronda's experience when Holly Ko'd her.
Total disorientation. If that fight was let go on, he was a dead man.

    once again...Jesus....

Like i just explained....MMA is not BOXING! ! you can fight on the ground.... thus conor was allowed to keep hitting im... Aldo couldnt defend it so the ref ended the fight...you dont continue after a knockout in MMA it would be pointless and dangerous.

If McGregor had not been pushed off Aldo by the referee he would have eaten a lot more shots.

He was out of it and unable to defend himself. Doesn't matter if it was for 2 seconds or 10, he wasn't able to intelligently defend himself.

Apparently when he was coming round he asked for a big Mac and chips....

White went down in a similar way on Saturday when Joshua punched in yhe boxing, wasn't any counting there either.

I cannot believe people think they are calling fights to early in UFC , if any criticism can be levelled it is that they are not stopping fights soon enough !
