Windows 10: Screen password forgotten

Have been away from my windows 10 laptop for several weeks and the screen login password and either the screen login got changed while I was away or I have forgotten it.

No backup DVDs or CDs or anything.

Is there an easy way to get past it please?

Did you use an MS account to sign in or is it just a local account?
If it's an MS account, you can change it online.
Local account will need a secondary admin account to reset the password.

You could create a 'Masterkey' to access the machine, I made one and it worked on server 03, server 08, XP, Vista, Win 7 & Win 8 but never tried it with Win 10 yet.

All it does is wipe the current password so you can then login to any account on the machine by leaving the password field blank. Very handy thing to have on a tiny USB keyring

That one's grand.

It doesn't reveal the old password.
And you need physical access to the machine.
