Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Wolfsburg-vs-Manchester-United-Prediction-and-Tips.jpg

I'll take the heat for starting this match thread if it all goes tits up :)

United go into the game knowing only a win will guarantee qualification, in first place and a whole host of injuries to boot!

On the other hand a draw is enough for Wolfsburg which is not always the best position to be in, United know they have to go there and score/win, Wolfsburg may be unsure whether to just keep it tight for the draw themselves or go for it and risk getting beat and if results go against them they will be knocked out of the competition.

Van Gaal had this to say
"You have to prove yourselves, as a club, as a team and as players," adds the boss. "We can't rely on the result of the other game."

    Hecking
"We will have to play with real enthusiasm and drive. Then we can beat anyone - even United."

    Form for Wolfsburg LDWWLL
    Form for United DDDWWW

United won the reverse fixture in a tight game at OT.

    Possible line ups

I didnt think a few games ago England would be on the verge of losing Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd from the UCL in the group stages.

Shows how much the league has regressed in recent times IMO, I still expect at least 3 of the 4 English sides to reach the knockouts but I'd be shokced if any of them get past the round of 16.

Ricardo is a late doubt for them I think, I hope the defeat at the weekend and the manner of it has drained them somewhat :)

What's the outcome of the other match? Isn't there a chance we can still go through if we don't win tonight?

Regardless I can't see Wolfsburg sitting back so it may well suit us.
Said in the Utd thread we need to be more clinical in front of goal which is my main concern.

    Mike Smalling for captain?

We have to match or better PSV's result basically, well if PSV lose it doesn't matter obviously

Bought United shirt at start of season with champions league badge on it, was just happy to be back in it again. Didn't think it could be redundant by Xmas! Here's hoping utd pull through. Will be far from easy, PSV screwing up could be more likely.

0-0 with no goals, no shot on or off target, no corners, no throw ins, no free kicks. some possession.

United to draw. PSV to draw. United to go through.

If we draw, PSV must be held to a draw or lose to CSKA for us to go through.
If we lose, it's out of our hands. Simples.

The Wolfsburg left back is a cracking player, surprised he hasn't moved to a bigger club yet

We were linked with him over the last 2 or so windows and was the LB I wanted from the Bundesliga. :o

Surely as a United fan you should be well aware of what needs to happen for Utd to go through?

Don't be too rash with getting rid of the duvet, sleep on it and see how you feel in the morning.

What's that beep I hear, is that an old friend of yours has just texted you to meet him for a quick pint before he flies back to Oz?

Bizarre selection picking Fellaini in midfield ahead of Carrick. Who is going to supply the ball to the front four??

I predict a slow, frustrating night ahead.

Trial by fire for Varela, hopefully the lad does ok tonight.

Tbf no matter who he picks things are slow and frustrating. Might as well try something else.

Apart from Carrick in for Fellaini that's exactly what I had picked from what we had available. Delighted he's gone for Lingard although there wasn't much choice apart from playing Carrick and pushing Fellaini further forward.

Wolfsburg with Schürrle upfront. No Dost. Going for speed. Not sure Man UTD will like that

Jan Aage Fjortoft ‏@JanAageFjortoft 4m4 minutes ago
Just had an interview with Wolfsburg -boss Allofs. Going for speed, but say they must be careful too

Looks like Allofs is stone mad for speed tonight. He'll have to be careful or he'll end up like Tommy the Turtle.

Huge game for Varela this evening. The little I have seen or know about him seems to suggest that he is quick with a good appetite to attack also. Didn't seem to do badly at all against the Hammers at the weekend.

**** was gonna go for a beer after the game I think I'll need one before it !

If Utd pass it forward they have a chance to win the game.

They probably need to win so van gaal will need to lose the negativity

Not really looking forward to this. Very difficult night ahead for us.

Worried about our midfield with the pace of Wolfsburg.

Hopefully we can nick the win.

Not too confident at all for game....Wolfsburg are a well organised unit, feel Utd will need to score twice to progress.

The defence is already quite obviously going to be a shambles tbh, they won't cope with the movement.

That was Blinds fault for shooting out of position to try make a tackle in midfield, which he missed.
