We've an old gas fireplace and we'd like to replace with a stove (non-back boiler).

Thinking along the lines of this:

Removing existing fireplace, surround and wooden mantle.

Replacing with modern inset stove, sitting higher up than the current fireplace with a wood storage underneath, no mantle.

Any idea costs for a job like this?

Going through this at the moment.

When was your house built ?

If we assume it's a standard fire place you will be restricted by the opening size. For the stove you have linked to to work you would need to alter the lintel and blockwork. Im considering a stovax riva 40 which fits in a standard ope.

Stove, liner & install about 2.5 + probably another 200 for removing existing fire place and a few hundred depending on finishing requirements.( going with smooth plaster flush finish, not priced yet)

House was built around 2000. Was thinking about a modern cut stone clad finish on the chimney breast.
