    Hi,

If a Customer is paying their bill as it arrives, what happens if they don't pay the €300 deposit, will they be cut off?

    Regards,

    Joe

    Hi Joe,

    Thanks for your message.

New customers, or returning customers who have not been registered with Electric Ireland for an extended period of time, are required to pay a €300 security deposit.

However, this deposit is not necessary should customers choose to pay their bills by direct debit, or avail of a Pay As You Go option with Electric Ireland. Should customers choose to set up a direct debit on their accounts they can do so online here, for details regarding Electric Ireland's Pay As You Go services our Pay As You Go team is available on 1850 305 095.

The Electric Ireland system is set in such away that payments are cleared on the oldest amount on the account first. Until the security deposit is cleared then is the oldest outstanding amount on an account. Any payments made to an Electric Ireland account would go towards clearing the deposit, once the security deposit has been paid then further payments will go towards any usage based bills.

The security deposit is returned to Electric Ireland customers in the form of credit on their account 14 months, or seven clear bills, after the deposit has been paid in full.

If you have any questions please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Brige
