Only played support/Medic the odd time as I can't figure out the controls. It says r1 to throw ammo but a lot of the time when I press it nothing happens? I badly need a guide on all the stuff each class can do. I'm a total noob in that regard though I try to play the objective and can give medics a chance to revive me, it does lead to some heroic moments, one time a medic revived while getting blown apart by someone, I revived just as he died and immediately avenged him Good fun.

Your ammo pouch or crate is a gadget so would be tied to left or right dpad. You can customize that from the class bar or in the companion app.

I normally like to get at least one service star with each weapon because it forces me to try each of them and potentially find new ways to play. But I don't know if I can be arsed this time where there are three variants of each gun, some of which are just outright worse than their counterparts. Weird design choice.

What classes are you guys preferring, I am an out and out medic no doubt. But I am rank 12 in that class and all the weapons so I moved to support.

I am rank 11 in support now with all guns so I am moved to assault my 3rd favorite class. Its a hard slog I am not fond of it TBH I find it so frustrating and slow to get the rocket gun even throwing the grenades the animation takes an age. It would be alot better being able to fire crouched instead of prone. I am rank 7 now and I really want that hellreigel rank 10 gun then I will give the scout class a run but I really dont think I will like it but I would love that martini rifle.

Hit rank 11 last night in the tanks, my absolute favorite thing to do in game, but TBH there is no way in hell you should be able to rack up insane K : D in the game (my record so far is 64-0)

Also that Artillary truck hits are insane, will destroy a heavy tank in no time and can take decent damage also......but a heavy kitted out with the flame throwers is game porn taking a flag!

I love the light tank with the middle kit, can't remember what it's called. The one that's not default and not howitzer.

For classes I think my favourite is assault, but I'm currently playing medic because I'm so terrible with the medic rifles that I'm trying to force myself to get better.

Madness not selecting the emergency repair, if it does not have that in the setup forget about it. My heavy setting is the emergency repair and the gas canister drop if infantry get too close rocking the flamethrowers.

All in a lovely dark green camo.

64-0??? were they even trying to stop you?! That's insane.

Has anyone bothered with the planes? can you score well in them and be of use

I'm mostly playing Assault with AT setup and Light Howitzer Tank if I'm on my own, or Support and Flame Tank if I'm on with some mates.

The Hellreigal is amazing and probably a bit overpowered if you're playing with a half decent Support teammate. I've one Support loadout that's good for covering fire and resupplying, and another that's set up for hopping in tanks, then being able to jump out, drop smoke of my own and repair.

I'm loving the mortar tank too.

I'm not amazing at playing Medic and I think only levelled up to rank 4/5 with him, and possibly rank 2/3 with the scout.

A mate of mine has gotten pretty good with them. In fact, he's better in the air than on the ground.

I find it tedious though, having hopped in the gunner seats with him a good few times, and it's literally a case of running up the map to the combat zone, hoping people on the ground have a) spotted some targets and b) taken out the AA guns, then drop your load, get past the combat zone and start repairing, turn before out of the playable area, line up for an attack run, repair and repeat.

There's usually not enough action in the air to go for the fighter unless there's a zeppelin in play.

Seriously you have no idea, tonight I was on with a few lads off boards and 1st tank I got I was 30-2. I was in a squad on my own....its getting to the stage now that if I dont get at least that amount of kills its a disaster run.

Dont get me wrong, I am always capping and defending flags you just gotta be cautious doing it.

People just go gung ho into the middle of flags in tanks and get raped instantly with 2-3 assault.

I must have 2 service stars at least in that heavy....If that heavy had a 360 turret I would be unstoppable....lol.

Biggest pain in the whole in a tank is the bombers, if they hit you once you 50% then 2 nades and you fooked!

Do you use the main cannon for infantry kills or the actual infantry cannon thing

I get decent enough runs on it, I could do with being a bit more cautious alright

    The Train is hilarious
Got on it yesterday and killed the same cavalry guy 3 times
    Certainly deserves the OP tag

The canister shot is by far the best thing in the whole game, its range is not great but if you 20m or closer no matter where you hit infantry they are dead.

Best tip I can give you is always equip the emergency repair with gas canister, and the 2 flame throwers.....dont spam your shots so you have shots left when you need them.

So if you are taking points & shooting infantry thats fine, as soon as you see a tank or a tank is spotted straight away dont bother with infantry (unless right in front of you and only 1-2 shots) and have those 6 shots ready so your not waiting for reloads when you meet the other tank.

The amount of times I have won tank battle as the other lad only had 2 shots at the start of the engagement and I had 6 ready to go.

Stay away from the narrow streets and choke points as you will be hammered by infantry with too much cover and you have no way of getting them unless tank is full of team mates with flamer going, attack points by going wide and let the infantry taking the point distract enemies and mop up on the road in.

Also noob pilots come dangerously close to tanks when dropping bombs or fighters shooting tanks, one canister shot can take down a fighter and disable a bomber if close enough....I got about 4 planes last night.

great tips thanks. Where do you equip emergency repair? is it support class?

  • Registered Users Posts: 711 ✭✭✭battser

Im finding the medals are a bit of a pain in the ass. I get the point of them and they are indeed good to get you change up your gameplay from what you usually stick to but.... would I be the only one who thinks its retarded that you have to complete the tasks in sequence? I find it just makes the medals near impossible and you don't actually get rewarded for performing certain good moments of play in relation to the medal cause its second or third on the list of to do's?

Other than that. Great game even on xb1. Would be a different animal on PC no doubt. Hopefully MS get their **** in order and get the KB & M functionality working.

Medals made me play pigeons and an SMG.
    Fun
They're good for making you play stuff you wouldn't normally all right.
I realised this weekend that Conquest is my favourite game mode again. Operations was fun but feel more @ home with Conquest

The best thing you can do with planes is fly around in either a bomber or an attack plane. Do nothing until a figther plane plane shows up behind you. Then jump into the back seat and machine gun it to death, laughing maniacally.

No when you select the tank hit customise and then you can select the load out you want, its the tanks custom options you are changing not the class (infantry)

Tanks are incredible if used right, it's rare that I wouldn't get at least 20 kills in one (34-0 is my record, so have a bit of catching up to Wonda Boy to do). Emergency Repair is definitely a must, but I actually find the Howitzer light tank is ridiculously powerful and it's the one I always use. Wonda Boy is definitely right, you need to be careful and strategic, just charging into a battlezone with zero regard is no benefit to the team.

Many other tanks don't realise they're heading up against a howitzer, and charge in and you can make mincemeat of them in close range. Ranged shooting does require some aiming due to the trajectory but you get the hang of it, and the machine gun rips infantry apart handily enough and unlike canister shot, has good range. Also great for demolishing buildings (which is the idea).

In larger open desert maps it's still my preferred option, but it's brutally effective in maps like Suez and St. Quentin Scar.

Haven't played a huge amount of BF1 so far (about 35 hours I think) but already in the top 10% of tankers.

I'm having a great time with them. It takes a bit of time to get used to the aiming but once you set up your controls to your preference it becomes simple. The only problem some people seem to have is they are picking the wrong package and/or wrong class of plane. Bombers aren't the answer to all your problems people!

It's a great feeling when you clip someone's wing and watching him lose control and fly into a hillside or a flagpole. (or another plane)

Just a word of advice if you are going to start using planes, don't use the 3rd person perspective to shoot, keep that in 1st person as the crosshairs are more on point.

Its pretty common actually, ive pointed out a few times just how poor the average player seems to be in this game...

Ive done similar a few times, this scoreboard was all tank play.

    tank.jpg

The next screenshot was using the martini henry, arguably the most difficult weapon to use effectively in the game.
I'm not an amazing player by any means but I consistently down smg, shotgun, lmg users at close range with bolt action ironsighted weapons, nothing in the game more satisfying.
My point is the player base seem to be this generation of players that have had their hand held by game developers far too long, god be with the times gamers had to actually think and have situation awareness.

To be fair I have also came up against a well organised squad in the tank and its might aswell be made of blue-tak, destroyed in seconds no defense.

What site do you use to find your stats, I cant find a decent one and the one I found it MIA.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,574 ✭✭✭ahnowbrowncow

They'll have to do something about tanks.

There's a few maps on rush were only one side have a tank and a tank full with a decent squad are nearly impossible to take out. Too many times I've seen people go 40+ kills 0 deaths.

It's mostly because there's no decent long range anti tank weapon. Even when you hit it with the AT rocket gun a 3 times they just reverse and repair.

It's compounded by the fact that so many people want to sit back and snipe.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

anytime I get into a tank it seems to end up on fire upside down in a ditch

If 2 assault class hit a tank together it has no chance, but getting 2 random people to do it is impossible, and the AT rocket is so un-friendly to use most of the time you are killed as you as so vulnerable using it. If you could crouch and move as I suggested you would have alot more people using it.

Also the slightest bit of incline in front of you will get you killed.

This game is really starting to piss me off, cannot get into a game of conquest with a ping under 60, rush no problems at all but I dont like that game mode.....why am I in a queue of 5-7 people for a server that says its 2 slots free with no reserve number! And literally all the conquest servers are like this ffs!

Not an Irish server online its really really frustrating this ****e for a AAA title.

    RANT OVER.
