Impressed with both teams - very savvy minors - a lot of thinking on and off the ball being demonstrated. None of the usual panicked stuff you get at this grade.

Cynical fouling raises its head again - terrible.

Great game - Congrats to Limerick

The word is Cashel voted in favour of the Browne/Ryan transfer.

There will be an official transfer request in January.

The Knockavilla camp is expected to reject the request.

The county board are also against, in fear of a trend.

This needs to get solved ASAP - way too many good hurlers involved. Madness.

There’s plenty of top clubs in Tipp would not accept them players unless they had the blessing of knockavilla . Surprised Cashel have

The way Lorrha are possibly looking at it is short term - great young players that could bring and solidify them as a club at senior.

Long term - it has the potential to make relations poisonous between both clubs or at worst derail both clubs for the foreseeable future.

Some of Tipp's most talented hurlers involved - needs to be sorted and people at all levels from Sheedy to the chairman need to get involved to sort that. They should ask Seamus Hennessy to mediate it.

A few years ago while involved with our second team , an official asked me would I mind 3 players from another club come and kick with us as they had no adult football team and were entitled to play with another club because of this . I told him I’d no problem at all with as long as he wouldn’t mind his son sitting on the sideline , I never heard another thing about it . In the short term it causes problems but eventually it’s forgotten and everything moves on . Is it a personality clash caused all this

I'm not so sure everybody in Cashel is happy about it, and fear, it would rumble on...
It's a clash of personalities and powerful people in the club -the usual stuff that goes in all clubs, but this situation appears to have boiled over.

Read the report about the Minor Final, seemed Tipp were fairly out of luck, keeper had to leave injured and full back gone my half time (both accidently collided with each other). Tipp looked like they had a winner with the last puck in normal time but got called back by the linesman for the ball being out of play. Tough one to lose to be sure, coupled as well that there is no backdoor this year.

For anyone that watched the game, who stood out for Tipp? From watching them last year, Jack Leamy looked to have great potential.

Best wishes to the Under 20s on Wednesday. Tough ask to go to Cork and win, but they are a hardy bunch. Cork need no motivation after the last 2 years against us at this grade.

Tipp suffered injuries before and during the game but drove on regardless - very good sign. Unfortunate clash between full back and keeper robbed Tipp of both. Doyle looked good and was a loss.
Leamy missed some easy frees he'd normally put over, but he fought hard all game - showed good character to steady on the frees and scored some fantastic frees after those misses.

These guys are all very very young. But it has to be said a very fine bunch of players on both sides. Truly a great game between them.
    McGarry was very good.
Cahill, playing with an injury, showed a lot of industry and link play - usually a heavy scorer, but I think injury hampered his game.
Fogarty looked a very clever corner forward.
Shanahan at wing back looks promising.

Shane O'Brien, English, Fitzgerald, and Hurley on the Limerick side looked very good.

I saw this on Liam Sheedy's twitter. As a Corkman, I can say that's a really classy thing to do for people. I hope other counties do this or maybe they are already. It shows how the GAA can help everyone in the community and brings us all together. Maybe if you know someone you could get in touch.

Thinking the same. After the ET win over Waterford, Hackett and Devaney put their hand up for inclusion. Could see Devaney at wing forward. Need pace for this Cork team, but also given the weather this could turn into a dogfight need good scrappers for the ball. Could also see O'Kelly being moved out for a bit from the inside. Best of luck to them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

Darragh Flannery comes into the defence and James Devaney into the attack, in place of Fintan Purcell and Sean Ryan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

Great start for Tipp hurling wise - but they have left a lot of scoring opportunities behind them. Could prove very costly.

Noticeably poor hand passing on the Tipp team from midfield up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

Devaney having a nightmare - needs to be close to goal in fairness - but very poor handling from him so far. Seems to be fairly one sided too.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 542 ✭✭✭Bill Ponderosa

Just about hanging in there, Connolly having a great game so far, seems to the free man back there.

Tipps best player so far is the ref!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Not really established any flow or rhythm but still well in it. Like Ormond when he gets on the ball, not seen him play too many bad games for tipp over the last 2-3 years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 906 ✭✭✭Ompala

Not the best half of hurling - overcomplicating things up front majorly. Need to just do the basics well. Bad hand passing leading to a lot of scores. 3 monster frees by Connolly were superb.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

Devon Ryan has had bit of cut to him - direct.

    Connolly very good.

Someone needs to step up in the forwards and tie this forward line together - otherwise Cork will win without being dominant in terms of possession and winning the primary ball.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 542 ✭✭✭Bill Ponderosa

That's 2 big goal chances wasted by Ormonde. Needs to be ruthless. Not seeing much from Bowe again.

Panicked on the second one, great to get the space and great pass to find him. We've wasted a lot of chances here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

Bowe and Ormonde keep going though - keep showing for ball and Tipp's scores are coming off them or by them.

Poor game of hurling not helped by a really poor ref, although we are probably benefitting more than Cork from him.

Does Connolly wait for every forward to be marked up before he can hit a free

When you say ruthless what do you want exactly?
    Referee is brutal.
are they ever not according to some here?

Ormonde despite the missed chances has carried us up front.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

    Pressure is a crazy thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Ormonde could have had 3 goals but you have to give goalie credit for 2 excellent stops. He's a guy who seems to make stuff happen, gets into good areas. Not much up front for the most part, though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,480 ✭✭✭robbiezero

Cork just about better of two poor sides and just about muddle their way to a win.
From a senior perspective, hard to see anyone that will be anywhere near it next year.

Ruthless? Both were timid enough shots at the goalie stuck from distance. Both times he had space to take it 5 or 10 yards closer. Needs to hit it as hard as he can.

Lacks a bit of size but overall had a very good gsme.

Tipp inside backs were largely chasing shadows. Connolly very good but needs to work on distribution. Forwards were losing the 50/50s and struggled to win ball.

Cork the better team all round.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

What did the Cork no.23 do after the final whistle? - two lads - who didn't play - wanted a piece of him afterwards.

Poor sides is harsh. Both would have hoped to play better for sure. But given the circumstances and the time of year, a lot of rain in Cork the last while, that's probably as good as you're going to get.

Oh, they'll be a few that will make the leap, will take a few years of filling out though, they'll come from the defence rather than up front, I'd say.

The sub Max Hackett must have a year or two at this level yet? Looks good and direct. Be interesting to see how he develops.

Barrett looks a banker for Cork seniors.

Should mention, was travelling home from Cork earlier and there was a very strong wind, couple with consistent rain the last few days and it is very cold - not ideal weather conditions. Both teams deserve credit for going out in it.

Cork probably just about deserved it, we missed too many chances in the finish, goals and points. We were guilty of overplaying the ball a lot, tried to create the goal chance when we should have taken points. Disappointing end to the year for them, but definitely have a few future seniors in the team.

Dunno what happened after the whistle. Not appropriate reaction by the Tipp selector, but someothing had to have been said to trigger such a reaction.

Hard to pin too many of them who'll make the step up to senior. Bowe and Connolly the obvious ones, have the size for it. After that I wouldnt be sure of any of them. I liked Devon Ryan while he was on, surprised he was replaced early enough.

A terrible performance, but lets be honest, they all were. Handling was awful in every game. Awful against Clare in the first half, awful for 55 mins against Waterford, awful for the whole game against Cork. Looked very badly coached. Cahill's team from last year would have battered that Cork team. We didnt even lay a glove on them. Andy Ormonde who was full of confidence last year missed a brace of goals.

I think Ray McCormack has a chance.

Connolly is a cert - he is not the finished article, nobody is at that level, but he looks the pick of most games. A lot will depend on who is senior manager/s to mold him over the next while because he looks like he could fill most positions.

Ormonde has the ability and the know how, gets on a lot of ball, but he will have to fill out.

Bowe does look like a confidence player - either red hot or out of it, he will have to address that.

Ryan took a knock, didn't he? Dunno if that knocked the gallop out of him. Be happy if we got even a couple of prospects out of that group, Bowe, Connolly, McCormack, Ormond, Aaron Browne all look decent possible to me. Few of them have another year at this level I'd guess.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭formerlyET

The continual high ball, under the lights, into our forwards was frustrating. You could give Cork credit for pressure but a lot of it was needless high ball.

Not so sure about that. Cork had a deadly u21 team in 2018 and 2019 who were totally mismanaged by Denis Ring. Tactically he was inept. They really left 2018 behind them. 2019 Tipp destroyed Cork but i blame Ring for alot of that.

We had our own Denis Ring over Tipp tonight. They looked like a team done no training with the ball whatsoever. I wasn't all that overawed by Cork, to be honest, and im not being ungracious. Id have no qualms ye deserved it but they should be hammering us the way we have been playing. Useless in all three games and the chickens came home to roost tonight
