Trending now ..... Gus Hiddink to take over.

    Don't know why.

He was a disaster in his last job with the Dutch National team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,689 ✭✭✭sky88

Guss failed quite badly with the dutch so it could be a risk to appoint him but he did well at them the last time

Big pity for Liverpool fans here

    Why?

It's not like Chelsea are going to snare Klopp from them?

Jurgen is putting down roots there having recently spent £683.50 purchasing one of the most expensive properties in Mersyside!

Terrible week to be called José

If its "mutual consent" will he get the 40m pay off, or just a fraction of it?

Sounds like there's no pay off, but that could be Chelsea FC doing damage limitation.

Either way, once he starts a new job the payments stop. Best thing for him is to stay away from football till next summer.

I think Bayern would suit him. A big ego manager in a big ego club would work for 2-3 years and they've a good chance at getting the 3rd CL that he craves.

most likely they came to a mutual agreement which included an acceptable pay off for both parties...

    Doubt he'll get 40m.....

I'm sure he'll get a parachute of some sort... probably paid up to the end of the season at least.

Chelsea trying to leave him what little dignity he has left.

A pity they didn't afford Ancelotti the same courtesy.

It's Alan Pardew's time to shine. Come on Roman, you know you want to.

The manager Merry-Go-Round is now going to be very interesting

Guardiola to City (likely) to Chelsea (maybe) to Utd (least likely)
Simione to Chelsea (quite likely) to Bayern (doubtful)
Ancelotti to Bayern (likely) to Utd (unlikely)

Tuchel will stay at Dortmund its fair to think.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him end up at United once his clause expires if Guardiola snubs them and Van Gall continues to underwhelm.

No chance, in my opinion. This latest episode has hurt Jose badly in the eyes of the bigger premier league clubs. As Marina Hyde said this week in the Guardian, this whole episode is only noteworthy in that it has laid bare the smallness of the man behind Mourinho.

I dont disagree. Got in a text from a family member in UK. Apparently there are all sorts of rumours flying in the media in UK, and his name is most mentioned. But nothing about that on SS News yet .........

Always felt those payoffs in contracts should be performance related. If you take Chelsea from champions to just outside the relegation places you don't deserve as much compensation, you deserve to be looking fro a new job.

SS News reporting that the practice now is to continue to pay the sacked manager for the duration of the original contract. Better arrangement for cash flow issues.

Must be a pretty sweet day for Wenger.

As for Mourinho, he'll run off to Paris.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Players at Chelsea should be taking a hard look at themselves today. They are lucky in a sense that the manager that was sacked has such a high profile that he will vacuum a lot of the flack, and a lot of it rightly so of course, but to go from champions to playing like they are is a big question mark regarding mentality above several of the players. Never would they have been so protected in their careers like Mourinho did either, passed the point of logic too as it was doing him no favours either, and they end up playing like that for him.

    Awful news.

    Chelsea should improve now.

Hopefully that's the end of Mourinhio in England

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,913 ✭✭✭Ormus

As long as Bobby Charlton is around the club he`ll never get the job.

On Mourinho himself, the comments he made towards people like Arsene Wenger have come back to bite him in the arse, specialist in failure indeed.

    Why?

Wenger has failed at everything bar the FA Cup for the past decade or more, while Jose has won all round him in several different countries.

Mourinho's point was the Wenger consistently fails, and thus is a specialist in it.

Have to admit that as a Liverpool fan I'm not a Jose fan but saying that he is a great manager and Chelsea long term will be less without him.

The problem for Chelsea is what happen if the new manager doesn't get the bounce that everyone expect. what happen then??

Jose will be back in work as soon as a jobs at a huge club come up.
Real Madrid could well be looking around if they lose another game.

If thats the case though then 99% of managers consistently fail.

Better chance of big Sam getting the madrid job than Jose going back there.

I figure it's to do with the Eva situation...which is possibly even more damning of the players than Jose. It shows a complete lack of professionalism. If they were so upset by it. Keep playing your best and request a transfer. They threw their toys out of the pram

Jose was very wrong in that situation but her getting fired was inevitable. It looked like herself and the other physio were getting a slap on the wrist with a temporary demotion and would be brought back after a while but she also showed a lack of professionalism by sounding off.

Why do you think it was that? They were playing muck before the Eva situation reared its head.

Rubbish. She was bullied, harassed and victimised by Mourinho for doing her job. What option was she left with? The club endorsed Mourinho's bullying by removing her from her match day duties, you can't expect anyone in that position just to put up and shut up.

Absolutely ridiculous to see a manager who won the league last season and has qualified for the knockout stages of the Champion's league being sacked over a poor run through 16 games of the league season.

A run he didn't look like halting, had clearly lost the dressing room, put all the blame on the players or refs and took no ownership of the problem himself.

More amazing he wasn't sacked weeks ago.
