Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would appreciate any advice / help - I have an Dell Inspiron Desk Top PC which we have been using for the last five years and I had just purchased a new Dell PC which I was in the process of transferring all our photos , emails and documents etc too

A few days ago a fuse blew in our house and all the power went when we got the power running again the old Dell Inspiron would not start up - The power on button went a yellow and then there was no light from it - I tried a new power cable into the unit but no joy

Is there anybody / firm around the Bray / North Wicklow area that you would recommend would be able to help me get the Dell Inspiron Unit working again

Its important to me to try and get it working as it contains all our family photos including some of my mother and father which have passed away

Any advice or help would really be appreciated

I'm in Bray and could help you out. I wouldn't be able to do anything until Monday though. PM me if you're interested.

If Alun can''t help you, there's a laptop repair place on the main st beside O Doherty's School Book Shop.

Also, don't worry about your pictures (which you should really use cloud back up for) they will be on the hard disk so should be retrievable even if the computer is fried.

This is probably your best option unless you need the desktop repaired amber power button can be numerous things but from what you described its probably a fried motherboard or the power supply.

You could try retrieve the data yourself by removing the hard drive and installing in the new PC to retrieve the data or by using a caddy http://www.adverts.ie/laptop-parts-and-accessories/2-5-3-5-sata-hard-disk-hdd-multi-function-dock-reader-usb-1-1-2-0-3-0-device/8338441

Sorry, I've only just noticed this ... if you want to send me a private message (PM) just click on my name to the left of this post, and select "Send a private message to Alun". I can then give you my phone number and we can take it from there.

As a newish User, can they send PM's yet?

Edit, I think they need 25 posts

Good point. I'm not sure how to make contact otherwise without posting personal information here though.

Have you tried sending the Op a pm?

Yes I did, but didn't get a reply, so assumed he didn't see it, but I suppose if he can't send PM's he can't reply either. I'll send another with my contact details and see if that works.
