Connecting Soundbar to Record Player

    We just received a record player as a gift with no speakers. We have a new Soundbar that we would like to connect it up to. Not much of a techie when it comes to this, but connected the red and white outputs to an Aux 1 connection in the Soundbar. Sound wasn't great and there was a background hum also. A little but of Googling and I come across stuff about preamps. Should I just get separate speakers altogether or is this doable? Any help or advice appreciated. Thanks

    The hum is from a grounding issue. A preamp ( with ground) into the bar will help. Ultimately a separate stereo and speakers is the ideal way to listen to it but a preamp is cheaper.

    If you are going looking for a preamp, make sure it has a phono input. This is a specialised input designed to compensate the sound from a record player.
