Unknown task bar icon

    As above, has anyone got any idea what the middle icon is under avast? If I move the mouse over it, it dissappears.

    Pretty sure that's the Sigmatel audio icon, usually from microphone or audio drivers. If you open up the task manager you should be able to see all the corresponding processes. Or the task bar properties should show all the icons and when they appear.

    Don't recognise the icon, but try opening "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows, and see if any of the icons there look similar. Alternatively, take another screenshot, crop it so that it's just the icon, and use Google Image Search to search for similar images.

    The fact that it's disappearing when you mouse-over it usually means that it's not running any more, but didn't shut down cleanly. Windows only recognises it's not running anymore when the mouse goes over it.
