Iphone 5 Pin Locked Can't Restore in iTunes

Right, basically what's after happening is my iPhone is stuck with the Apple logo on the screen it's not the first time it's happened, last time it was an easy enough job just plugging it in and restoring through iTunes. This time though when I plug the phone into my laptop it's telling me to enter my pin as the phone is pin locked, which I can't do due to the phone being stuck. I'm guessing it's because I'm using a brand new laptop and it's the first time it's been connected to it, the older laptop is dead so no joy just doing it on that machine! Is there anyway I can get around this? Have tried taking the sim out and connecting without it and it just tells me to put the sim in. Lost for ideas here so could anyone point me in the right direction? Or is a write off?

Have you tried holding both buttons until an apple appears on screen? The screen will go blank for a few seconds and then the Apple will appear

How to put your iPhone or iPad into DFU mode

Plug your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad into your Mac or Windows PC and make sure iTunes is running.
Turn Off your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad if it isn't already.
Press and hold down the On/Off button on the right side (iPhone 6 or later) or top (all other iPhones, iPods, and iPads) for 3 seconds.
Swipe the slide to power off confirmation slider to the right.

Press and hold down the On/Off button on the right side (iPhone 6 or later) or top (all other iPhones, iPods, and iPads) of you iPhone for 3 seconds.
Press and hold down the Home button on the front of your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad while still holding down the On/Off button.
Keep holding both buttons down for 10 seconds. (If you see the Apple logo, you've held them too long and will need to start again.)
Let go of the On/Off Button but keep holding the Home button for about 5 seconds. (If you see the "Plus into iTunes" screen then you held it too long and will need to start again.)
If the screen stays black, that's it! Your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad should now be in DFU mode.

At this point iTunes will show you an alert saying it's detected your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and it needs to be restored.

Reminder: If you see any logos on your device, you may be in Recovery Mode, but you're not in DFU mode. If Recovery Mode works, great. If not, try for DFU Mode

Nice one for the help lads, unfortunately no use though. I've figured If I get a sim off someone, make sure they don't have a pin code, and use that one in my phone it should do the trick. I hope!

Are you sure it's the sim pin and not the code to unlock the phone? If it's the sim you could just remove it and then restore.

Yeah it's definitely the sim. When I try it without a sim card and plug it into iTunes it tells me to insert sim, can't connect without it!

Ah I see, thankfully it's been a long time since I had to restore an iPhone. Might be worth a try to pop into a tesco and get a sim for €2.50.
