Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    The story doesn't add up.

of course it does, it makes perfect sense. Woodward sees this as a blip and thinks LVG can turn this around.

its not so long ago he was saying everything was ok, the fans were happy and those who complained about the football should feel guilty for doing so.

According to the same sources he is calling BS on, right?

When Rooney and Martial have played up front that has been how it is and the team struggle because of it. Problem is there is no Ozil or Silva there to play that role.

eh? Rooney and Martial have played no more than 1 or 2 games "up front" together this season, anytime the two have been central, Rooney normally has been playing much deeper, in this 10 role. normally he shifts Martial out wide left lately.

i recall one game when it was tried and we actually played really well, then he reverted to Martial out wide again and a #10 off Rooney such as Fellaini. He also tried Memphis in there, Adnan earlier in the season, mata in 3 or 4 games, Herrera in a few also.

to say that playing two strikers has lead to struggles is complete and utter nonsense as its not even been allowed to become a problem. put 2 goal scorers into that team, play two pacey wide players off them with Morgan and Herrera sitting behind them and you will notice a huge improvement in our goal scoring ratio.

problem is, right now we dont have any goal scorers in the team as we shipped them out during the summer and left them with a 19 year old who as yet has not become a top class scorer and a player who once was, but no longer is.

    Watching Valencia on SS1.

They had a poor first half but are playing some nice stuff now in the 2nd half.

This Andre Gomes guy looks the part for Valencia.

    It doesn't make sense.

Woodward is not going to keep LVG because he's scared of being labelled as hiring a second failure. That's ludicrous.

Surely it's a bigger risk, if he knows LVG isn't the right manager, to keep him and set the club back even further? Surely it's worse to be labelled as the guy who did that?

    it's BS.

People put too much stock in what these "sources" say. Red Issue is a crass rag.

Just in case it wasn't clear, I doubt that Woodward is any less qualified for - or skilled at - the job than Gill was.

Anyone see the press conf ?

LVG said something along the lines of, if you dont count December, we had a good year.

    The man has lost it.

October lost 3-0 to Arsenal. 3-0 win against Everton and 4 draws(0-0 x3) and lost on penalties to be Knocked out of a cup in one of those draws !

theres a huge difference between Gills rise to the CE job and Woodwards -

Gill was hired as director of finance and then within 3 years was promoted to deputy CE while at the same time, keeping his directorship.

he was promoted again within a year of that to group CEO and within 2 years of that, he went to overall club CEO - he earned his promotions in the normal way, going through each stage of the business and getting natural progression and time in each role.

Woodward on the other hand is purely a money man who had the responsibility of commercial and media activity before being moved to the board in 2012. he had 1 year experience at this level before becoming CEO of one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

Gill got it because he was best for the job in every since, Woodward got it because he was a glazer man and because the club had shifted from a football based business, to a financial priority.

at this stage of his CEO career, Gill was already on the board of the FA and earmarked for big things - i think we both know in the football sense, that Ed Woodward will be nowhere near this anytime soon. he may get a great job at a huge global company like Mcdonalds or Pepsi, but in the football world he is nowhere near the level Gill was at when he took the job.

Speculation, and conjecture for the most part, but as long as you know that I guess that's cool. I would point out though, that no matter how deluded one may be, surely you can't be under the impression Manchester United was a "football based business" whatever that means under Gill but a "financial priority" under Woodward.

Woodie got the job in large part to him being the guy that brokered the deal in large part would be a fair assumption, and proving he has great talent, ability and experience in the higher end of the financial market.

Wait a minute. Don't you have to pay for access to the red issue forum? Isn't that what the "real" fans do?

    Must be true.

Never heard of it before but that Red Issue thing seems to have a longing for a Hartchester United style club.

Will Keane has been recalled from his loan at Preston.

Anybody who reads the vomit that is Red Issue deserves to be lied to. They have zero credibility and no contacts within the club.

Just flick back to their timeline when Malcolm Glazer died to see what sort of classless people run it.

Did he pick up an injury? Was he getting any game time?

I love Will Keane, such a shame about the injury that stunted his development so much, doubt he is being recalled with a view to having anything to do with the first team just hope he hasn't picked up another serious injury.

Just read it, great speculation there from one of the rags, called back in search of goals. Yeah, right...

Maybe he is being brought back in for numbers? Prefer to leave Wilson on loan to develop? I dunno, just thinking out loud, he hasn't exactly set the world alight at Preston so barring injury, or the loan period ending, I don't see it of any significance.

Onda cero saying Isco has submitted a transfer request. If so then we should be all over this, never mind Woody going around saying we've bid for Neymar,Bale and Messi while we end up with Naismith.

Among all the doom and gloom of the last while, there's been some good memories in 2015.

It hasn't been all that bad, apart from December of course :pac:

This video cheered me up a bit, hopefully we can have some more of these moments sooner rather than later.

Isco would be a great player, and if he's handed in a transfer request, should be easily gettable. Would love him.

Not sure if it was mentioned here but I read somewhere that Sam Johnstone is going back out on loan, I liked the look of him during preseason.

LVG and Valdes have hardly made up again more likely a loan that can be recalled?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,217 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

He needs to be playing, insert a recall clause if needs be but a loan is definitely a good move for him.
