Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He certainly isnt a shining light in the u21s.

Seems to be the best route to the first team squad. Don't be a stand out player in the U21s. :pac:

Would like to see Herrera and MS as the midfield 2 but can't see that happening.

Should be enough to beat Newcastle.

Then again I said the same thing for frickin Sheffield United and look at how that game went.

    No confidence in tonight's game

Dont be silly we can't play with only one proper defensive midfielder we might conceded a goal

I don't like Fellaini starting, but otherwise it looks alright. After Saturday I don't expect too much though.

Might see young RB pushing way forward again getting in a few crosses... So looking at a Fellaini goal or assist tonight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

Apart from Fellaini, its a decent team considering. Mata deserves to be dropped and everybody else is injured.

Put Memphis in there and take out Fellaini and we'd win, but for some reason he hasn't the balls to put Herrera, Morgan and Rooney as our 3 central players.

Yeah, if the tree can get in the right positions he could get a headed goal.

I'd prefer to see Memphis in there instead of Fellaini, with Herrera forming a CM partnership with Schneiderlin.

Other than that, looks as strong as we can field at the moment. I'm glad Mata is dropped.

Nice to see two proper wingers.

Does Memphis really deserve a starting position as many have suggested?
    I don't think so.

I suppose you could argue he has to try and play his way back into form and starting him could help him

And this week's unheard of youth player who won a raffle for a spot on the senior team's bench because the squad was so horrendously badly mismanaged is..

    James Weir! Come on down..

    Martial playing right wing :(

Van Gaal says sometimes we can't disorganise a defence. I'd argue that all of the time we can't disorganise a defence, and the rare occasion we do it's usually a lucky break or Golden Boy doing something crazy

Listen to Einstein Louis, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insane

    Do something different
    Counter attack
    ???
    Win league

Put the house on Wijnaldum to get a goal tommorow

    Who did it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,930 ✭✭✭KH25

Fell off for Memphis at half time I hope. Just can see Dean giving him a red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,019 ✭✭✭✭adox

BT seem to be showing a match from 3 or 4 years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,597 ✭✭✭✭Trigger

Herrera seems to be at the start of every attack!

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,755 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

The Schneiderlin stats are we scored 25 and conceded 10 before tonight when he played, now it is 27-11 at half time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,347 ✭✭✭Quandary

Much more positive form Utd. Rooney doing very well for that Lingard goal. Herrera having a solid game too.

The early goal from that penalty was very very fortunate and is making life so much easier for the Utd attacking players. Newcastle cannot afford to sit back, they have to come at us and that is creating loads of space, especially on the break for our front 4.

Schneiderlin needs to up his game a bit, not one of his better performances so far.

Bangkok will be happy - Fellaini has actually been poor.

He hasn't been very good no. Not his day it seems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

Is this a self engineered turning point for United?

We had less possession in that half than Newcastle, yes less, 51-49 which is an alien fact for a Louis Van Gaal United team. It must be incredibly rare

Fellaini will definitely be sent off if we don't substitute him. Clumsiest player I've ever seen.

Don't worry there is the second half for the process to kick in.

Newcastle are that ridiculous a team they are attacking us leaving Rooney and Martial 2v2

    Should score more second half

Thing is I actually wouldn't mind the prosesh kicking in now. There's not much conceeding under the prosesh. Hang on to the three points. :pac:

    I love you De Gea.

Utd havent come out in this 2nd half at all

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,930 ✭✭✭KH25

    Lingard looked too cocky there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,136 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

I don't care if we are boring as hell after taking the lead, the key is taking the lead in the first place by taking risks like we did in the first half and then shutting up shop

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,586 ✭✭✭Canadel

If this game proves anything (and the almost unanimous opinion that Fellani has been poor only supports it further) is that Herrara is simply not good enough to play in a midfield 2 without at least two protective players alongside him. Too lightweight and as much a luxury player as Mata.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,080 ✭✭✭✭Maximus Alexander

Absolutely shocking stuff. Worst half of football I've seen from United since the absolute lowest point under Moyes.

    Bleh.

Exciting football. Apparently it drains Smalling's life-force.

Jaysus, that was a rollercoaster. I mean a cracker of a game with some stunning goals.

But jesus, we lost the lead to Newcastle twice. TWICE! More points dropped to relegation fodder. Thats 5 points out of 15 against 14th - 18th place.
