In hindsight you can say its a good tactic but its a risky strategy for a team second from bottom of the league. Conceding early goals is a high price to pay for trying to draw teams out.

No risk, no reward. If we were lumping the ball at them all night then we'd still be here now looking at a 0-0!!! They learned from the two games against them already and it showed.

I couldn`t understand why Conor Winn couldn`t launch the ball towards Podge instead of rolling it out to the backs and inviting trouble.

I'd say its more a case of no one has a clue where the ball will end up after he kicks it, his kick outs are atrocious, no control whatsoever, there was one the last night where everyone came over to the left side of the pitch and the ball ended up in the centre circle, I think that management are aware of this weakness and are trying to minimise the damage and retain control of the ball by keeping it short

A Sligo fan in the soccer forum reckons Vinny is signing for them on loan until the end of the season and that we're getting Jonah Ayunga in return.

A big blow with Lee Grace signing for Shamrock Rovers.

Yup the Vinny one seems bizarre. The Grace one is one of those that was a no win no matter what happened.

Disagree. Vinny is 30 now, he should be playing for his own sake.

Vinny obviously is a good player, but he's wasted in the system Keegan uses. Ayunga seems like he's a better fit. Had a very good debut in the victory over Harps in Donegal on Friday and was very unlucky not to score himself. Seems to have slotted right in.

Looking forward to seeing him playing against a team that plays football as opposed to whatever Harps play.

Everyone needs to be on their game from now on. A decent run isn't good enough. That will be needed just to keep in touch. Teams pick up when the heat is on and when half the teams they are playing have sfa left to play for.

Big game tomorrow night against Rovers in Terryland. Pats and Harps above us are playing each other. It would be a big opportunity to overtake one of them.

It would be great it Murray, Ayunga etc. clicked for us on the night. I think we have goals in us and the forwards at least should have a little confidence. Ayunga was unlucky not to have scored yet, but he has contributed and looks good. I'll be disappointed if they don't go out and take the game to Rovers.

We got a right scare against Killester but back at home on a pick you can play ball on, hopefully they'll create chances.

I hope and expect Lee Grace will have his hands full with Ayunga and Murray ^^

Ignore the Pats/Harps match. If necessary settle for a point,it's better than all out attacking and getting hit on the break. That first match against Drogheda a perfect example.

Good news is Rovers need the points too so if it's level with 20 mins left Galway have a chance to counter.

Very disappointing night last night, but not going to dwell on it.

Our U15s travelled away to Shamrock Rovers today to play their first match in the new U15 National League and beat them 2-0.

Make or break time now, 6 league games to go, 4 of them are at home starting with Derry tomorrow.

The next two games are at home against Derry and Sligo, realistically United will need 4 points from that and maybe 10 points overall from our last 6 games, it's a big ask.

They'd want a much improved performance, to the display they gave against Limerick last week. More of that and they're relegated.

Totally agree, awful performance. I'd expect to see a reaction tonight against Derry, we need a point at least.

As was Hale, never stopped running all night. Wasn't our best performance of the season, but I'll take three points over a performance any night.

The Harps-Sligo result was going our way last night until a late winner from Sligo.

Still though, we just have to look after ourselves and not leave it in the hands of other teams.

3 of the 5 games left are against teams down there battling with us and 3 of the 5 games are at home.

    It's in our own hands.

Sligo at home on Friday is massive.

Rumors Sligo are bringing 500 supporters down tonight. We need a big turnout from the home crowd!

Biggest Connacht derby for years, if there isn't at least 1,500 tonight, then you have to wonder if Galway people really are arsed about having a football team in the Premier Division.

This stuff is bandied about every year. If the people of galway were arsed about having a football team they would be going every other week. On games like this we should be hitting upwards of 2500 not 1500 given our population. The result is what we have now, a team skirting relegation every year

Know what you mean, but I think there is a level of apathy towards the club / hangover because of Galway GAA/Connacht games at the moment that is harming our home attendances. In the past I'm positive that we would've had more than 850 for a game as big as the Derry City win last week. That was an embarrassing turnout.

There was probably a few contributing factors, we were poor against Limerick the week previous (that was also a terrible turnout) and we've been in the bottom two all year really, but we stand a fighting chance of getting out of the bottom three, it's not like we're cut adrift or anything.

Tbf, I think there's a bit of buzz about the Sligo game, it seems to have dawned on people how big it is. Hoping for at least 1,500 and a win heading into the Bray Wanderers game in two weeks.
