A lot of money for Deans Road in the next at Limerick. Also see Wachman is bringing one over to Lingfield for a maiden, and it has been backed.

in the Pertemps the daughters horse is the one, not the obvious ones mentioned up this thread.

Yeah agreed why the need for the phrasing? We can all have a tip thats well fancied and doesn't run as expected but why do some people feel the need to say a horse is a cert or you're a gobsjite if you don't back it like. Ludicrous stuff altogether,i was actually glad to see him beaten, and he wasn't just beaten he was annihilated.

I presume it's because powerful owner like Jp can have his horses under perform and then pop up and win. If a mere mortal with one horse did it he or she would be in front of the stewards.
One law for the rich and powerful etc. I don't approve but it's life and the world we live in.
Tax exiles should have their passports withdrawn . at least mick o leary pays his taxes here

Thank you for the comments / explanation.

To my mind, isn't that the way its always been - sadly

At fairyhouse (i think) recently - didn't JP have 4 or 5 in front of the stewards?

Also, how often do you hear after the race from the trainer- that was the plan - if only i had a € every time i heard that

JP isn't the only owner like this and some trainers seem to specialise in "placing" the horses.

I seem to recall George Strawbridge always likely a winner at Glorious Goodwood when he visited the UK.

As for tax exiles, given the choice wouldn't we all want to pick and choice how and what tax we pay?

In relation to mick o leary - I assume we are not talking ryanair here, based on some recent press reports.

Back on topic - big festivals = owners wanting a winner and betting market needs watching or a bit of lateral thinking - and then make your own mind up.

    Good luck all.

I think we all agree with that, what irks me and a lot of people about JP is that people, both in his inner circle and the wider population of Limerick seem to see him as some sort of Robin Hood Demi-God, when in actual fact he just pays his social dues at his own convenience and as he deems best.

This is true, but he does spread an awful lot of wealth. cant dislike the fella, compared to other exiles who have no such philanthropy

All odds on favs and small fields in the graded races 2moro. From a punters point of view Irish racing is shocking.

    345C Ballymaloe Foods Beginners S'chase
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Blair Perrone, placed second, ridden by D.F. O'Regan and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. D.F. O'Regan stated that his instructions were to get his mount settled as he is a keen horse that wears a hood, give him room to jump away and do the best he could from there. He felt that he gave him a great ride, crept away while his jumping brought him into the race after the third last fence and from thereon he nursed him along until into the straight when the horses in front of him emptied and he stayed on to the line until his own horse emptied close to the line. He said that from past experience the horse doesn't respond to the whip. In his opinion, this is the way he'd like to ride him in future races.
A.J.Martin confirmed the instructions and stated that he was satisfied with the ride. He said that the horse is a worrier who lives on his nerves and was racing today for the first time over 2 miles and 3 furlongs. He felt that the rider gave him a chance to get home over this longer trip and stated that he would not like the whip used on this horse. As for future plans, he stated that he would look to run him on similar ground and back to the minimum 2 mile trip in races such as the Arkle Chase here in Leopardstown.
The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Blair Perrone was lame in front post race.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered and took no further action.
    Same old sh1te.

fyi. Our friend AJ was only just up infront of the stewards on Stephen's day.
The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, P.W. Murtagh, regarding the failure of A.W. Short, rider of Danielle's Journey (GB), placed second, to weigh in after this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that it was a complete oversight on his part. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards disqualified Danielle's Journey (GB) and suspended A.W. Short for 5 racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee for being in breach of Rule 227. Amended result: Conright Boy placed first, Bel Ami De Sivola (FR) placed second, Steamboat Bill placed third and Ontopoftheworld placed fourth.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Lip Service, ridden by S.A. Shortall, and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's representative concerned. S.A. Shortall, stated that he was instructed to ride mid division and to do his best. He added that he had his desired position until losing some ground at the fourth last. He hit his mount a couple of backhanders after the third last but knew he had a tired horse by the second last and despite being in contention for a minor placing at the final hurdle, the gelding had no more to offer before tiring in the final 75 yards. He described his mount as being a light framed individual who would possibly need better ground rather than todays bottomless conditions. Paul Gray, Authorised representative for A.J.Martin, stated that there was a doubt about running this animal because of the ground conditions but allowed him to take his chance after much discussion. He added that he was satisfied with the ride but disappointed that the animal stopped so quickly and consequently had him scoped but no abnormality was found. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Lip Service was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered. Furthermore, the Stewards received confirmation from Paul Gray that he was a long time Authorised representative for A.J. Martin but the records available today did not show a current registration. The Stewards referred this matter to the Turf Club for further investigation.

There's a 2m3 novice hurdle in Doncaster aswell tomorrow and a 2m4 novice hurdle in Cheltenham on NYD. That's just too many similar races around the same time. Then you'll hear trainers talk about there not being enough races.

With regards to the Irish Grade Ones, both these races we could do away with. We have the Drinmore/Morgiana and Moriarty/Irish Champion Hurdle either side of them.

Too many meaningless grade 1's in Ireland, just used to anchor a festival day.
