I'm just wondering what are the pros and cons of life in each of them and what one would you choose?
I knew of someone who was offered a job in both of them at the same time and he choose the Army.

If you join the Naval Service you go to sea after finishing Recruits and Branch Training.

Going to sea doesn't suit everyone due to the rough conditions at sea but if you are a grafter and do what your told you can progress. The location of the Naval Base doesn't suit some people who live up the country.

If you have a decent Leaving Cert apply for a Cadetship in the Army/Navy. The training is tough but the pay and conditions are decent when you get commissioned.
