Things have calmed down a lot in Galway city in terms of wind and rain, but there's another band of crap quickly approaching from the Atlantic. It feels like it's been raining forever:(

A lot of spherics showing up in that general area, could this tell us that there is a lot of energy brewing in the disturbed atmosphere behind the coldfront leading to perhaps stronger winds / squalls / thunderstorms in by early morning ?

SIGMET issued for thunderstorms in that general area, moving northeastwards at 50 knots!

Shows just how much rain is falling.

You could at least credit Tyler Collins, who recorded it and posted it about 15 minutes before you.

Yep. Tomorrow morning might not be much fun though. Anyway I'm off to bed also. The house is still standing and I'll investigate whatever those two or three loud thuds were later today.

House is being battered on all sides. Sounds like the windows are ready to come in. Kilkenny.

I like the description of 'moderate rain' -
    2.00am - CORK AIRPORT MODERATE RAIN 9.2mm.
more heavy rain looks to be moving in over West Cork/Kerry on latest radar.....

As the small low pressure on Wednesday is not related to Frank it really should have its own thread. It may or may not be named Gertrude but it could pack a strong punch as it moves NEwards through the day.

See the 9 am Harmonie (Met Eireann)

wondering of Roche's Point is giving false readings as showing strongest sustained and strongest gusts countrywide?

No, the Harmonie pressure data shows a slack gradient to its west but Roche's Point still in the tighter gradient. I would expect much lower readings 3 am.

rising @ more than 150mm per hr, looks like it could be well over 3.00m by 8am high tide

Strangest thing. Some really decent gusts and sustained winds pretty much all day and then BOOM....silence.
Its literally like someone switched it off! (meath/cavan border)

Thank you to the posters who advised travel this morning. We got dry roads clear of traffic leaving at 9 this morning. Tucked up safely in bed now reading the thread safe and warm.

On a separate note is there anyway to force the desktop site on an iPhone safari? Every time I try it goes back to the touch and I can't see locations then. Someone suggested starting an automatic trend of posting where you are first which would be cool

Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap full site. It will stay like that unless ya scroll to the bottom again and tap touch site.

Came across this clip on YouTube just now.

This town in Kilkenny looks in bad shape.

Apologies if posted here already - my connection is pretty slow so I couldn't go through all the previous pages.

Raining quite heavily in the Limerick area. There is that much wind. According to the GFS on Netweather.tv it looks like wind wise it will be a non event. The winds could be fairly strong with gusts no more than gale 8.
