The second feature of the storm or the son of Frank, has been the strongest storm since Darwin for me.
My anemometer is at ~12 feet height.
    Sustained winds reached 53.4km/hr
    Highest gust 95km/hr
    Rainfall so far 20.8mm
    Pressure 987.98mb falling slowly
    Temperature 7.3C

Sustained winds down to 39.4km/hr so the worst seems to be over.

Planes are having problems landing at Dublin this morning due to windshear. Some are diverting to Shannon, but it too is reporting severe windshear.

    EINN WS WRNG 01 301020 VALID 301033/301233 SEV WS APCH RWY24 OBS AT 1027 + AND - 10KTS AT 100FT

Ryanair from Liverpool diverted to Shannon but turned back and is now heading north to Knock?

The sting seems to have passed Cork City anyway at this stage.

The clouds have even broken leading to some rather pleasant sunshine and a light breeze.

Hopefully the Lee can be contained between the walls of the two channels and the city won't go under later on.

    30/12/15 Tides:
    Low: 15:14 (1.2m)
    High: 20:46 (4.2m)

Should give ESB an opportunity to drain water from Iniscarra Dam if the surface water isn't overwhelming the channels.

Generally you go up, then sustain a cruising altitude of ~30,000 feet and finally trend downwards eventually reaching ground level.

Enniscorthy is totally submerged. New Ross about 20 miles away expected to go under at high tide. The river is currently just at the edge of the quayside

Hopefully she's doesn't take any inspiration from 'Galloping Gertie' - the old The Tacoma Narrows Bridge (Suspension bridge that broke apart in relatively light wind decades ago due to harmonics between wind and the natural frequency of the structure).

Wexford train service only going as far as Gorey. Dublin Wexford Road impassable at Enniscorthy. Old Dublin Road between Gorey and Wexford impassable at Castlebridge. Road Diversions via New Ross. Worst flooding I've heard of.

And New Ross in real danger of flooding too!

Tides on the way out till about three this afternoon and high tide is 8pm, it all depends on the maths of how much water can get out to sea before high tide.

It really is shocking the lack of coverage this is getting.

To be fair, more news coverage will not make things better. The rescue services and council services are fully aware of the flooding in the affected areas. News coverage will not mobilise any further services.

Just pure nasty here now with relentless heavy, driving rain. A sharp 90 degree wind veer in the last 10 mins from SW to NW with a sharp increase in speed.

    New Moon
