The airport is closer to the coast and more open that my location so will always get higher readings than my station.

Latest TAF has a slight upgrade to 55 knots.

Really don't need this when I am venturing out!! Thought the rain wasn't coming until later, it's lashing now!

Looks like there will be a short break in the rain for Galway

On the island of Inshraher in Clew Bay. Wind is picking up. Not much rain yet.

Here's the 06Z ARPEGE on Meteociel. Again showing 160 km/h gusts in Kerry and Clare from that secondary low tomorrow morning, with less strong but still damaging gusts further along the track inland.

Will be interesting to see how things stand after all the 12Z models are out today. Surely there should be agreement on it by then one way or the other.

Met eireanns updated weather has said it will become extremely windy in coastal county's of munster tomorrow morning. Must be that second low that is approaching tomorrow

That secondary low looks even more severe on the 06Z ARPEGE just out.

Force 12 winds on the Clare coast.

Gusts in excess of 80 knots inland which is as high as the scale goes on this site.

HIRLAM is much slacker, hence Met Eireann are not making much of it, for now at least.

The 06Z Euro4 take on it. Considering the small scale of this feature, its got the feeling of a nowcast. The 12Z or 18Z runs hopefully will get a better grip on it.

Sounds nasty in cork city. And if the condition the cat was in when I left him in is a good gauge it isn't just sounding nasty.

Even the 00Z ECMWF has that low producing 50-kt sustained winds and 70-80 knots 500 m above the surface.

Met Eireann said at 1pm that there will be a sting in the tail of Frank as a new low will form in the morning with storm force winds in the South And West

More non-stop rain being dumped on South Galway now, not good.

On Radio 1 earlier, both Evelyn Cusack and Gerald Fleming were very clear in their warning about wave heights and restated the general warnings given for folk to stay away from the sea. This storm could be a killer.

But yet watch now some eijits will decide it would be great fun to go near the water. I mean if they are being that clear its for a good reason.
