If its finished then this might disrupt your travel :
There is flooding on the M11 Dublin/ Wexford Rd at J23 Gorey/ Courtown. Extra care is needed in both directions on the route.

From what I gather the works around Ferns are/were strengthening works ahead of the bypass works, and the associated increase in heavy machinery, etc. While perhaps not strictly necessary on the main N11 part, most of the other roads around Ferns would almost certainly not bear up to the amount of heavy loads that will be carried over them as part of the bypass works.

Standard practice when a bypass is being started - all existing roads are brought up to standard before works commence. Happened already in New Ross and Enniscorthy.

Yep there was major job done on the N11 between the Beehive and the Arklow bypass before work started on the new motorway.

when they lay the tarmac instead of dodging manholes they fill the over so they can lay the tarmac quicker and then come back at later stage uncover the manholes and tidy up the the area after

Yes but the key question is why the hell they are doing it in the first place. Twas grand as was the road into ferns from Dub. Waste of taxpayers money. And so many other roads that need doing get left undone.

Wasn't just resurfacing though. It was excavated to quiet a depth, either drainage/sewerage or strengthening works.
It also falls under the control of the NRA,where as local roads are council operated.

I drive that road everyday to work and in the last 10 years that same stretch of road has been dug up and relayed about 5-6 times and the works always seem to start in winter time. surely to god all the sewerage drainage and strengthening should have been done the 1st time the road was dug up. And in this day and age a relayed road should last more than a few yew years.

Budgets have to be met, towards the end of the year any surplus needs to be used up or the next years budget is cut by whatever excess is left from the previous year.I've seen roads done in July and resurfaced again in December,Irish logic at it's finest.

This is part of what is wrong with this country. Money should not be wasted as it has to be used by year end. Co Co's should have it on a needs basis, it shouldn't be a use it or lose it scenario
