    Im at work now customers telling me it's a bank holiday is it?? Double pay was stephens day surely confused??

    Did you work Stephens day and get paid double time? For people who don't work Saturdays, today is their bank holiday as Stephens day fell on a saturday.

    If I've got this the right way around, the bank holiday transfers to Monday (seeing as banks don't open on Saturdays), the public holiday stayed with Saturday.

    You are joking? Google public holidays and bank holidays, and the difference between the two.

    If your place of work is normally open on a Saturday, then last Saturday was your public day (entitlement wise). If your place of work is closed on Saturdays then the day transfers to the Monday.

    This OP. SO if you worked Saturday and got double pay then, today is just a regular day

    From Citizens Information:

    Public holidays falling on a weekend
    Where a public holiday falls on a weekend, you do not have any automatic legal entitlement to have the next working day off work. This will occur in 2015 when St Stephen's Day (26 December) will fall on a Saturday. This means that Monday 28 December 2015 is not a public holiday. Your employer can require you to attend work on those days. When this happens you are entitled to one of the following:

    A paid day off within a month of the public holiday
    An additional day of annual leave
    An additional day's pay
