Shotgun

Was out walking today and spoke to a few hunters out on a days shoot. Noticed that the shotguns they had were double barrel as in one under the other not side by side as I thought all shotguns were, any reason for picking one type of gun over the other?

I believe it's just a personal preference more than anything else. I have even seen a double barrel rifle and I am pretty sure I recently seen a triple barrel shotgun :eek:

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying - I've had many a day out where this would have come in handy, I've flushed deer out of cover while rough shooting and only recently put up a dozen or so woodcock while out stalking.

Often had the same happen to myself.
Don't suppose anybody has ever licensed one? Would it require two licences because it's two different calibres or would one cover it.

One licence section 3.1 on FCA1 tick shotgun/rifle combo

Sorry lads if my post causes friction, just am curious, see different colour plastic shells on the ground,,, saw blue ones today, does the colour of the casing mean a different size shot or just makers?

Each manufacturer will use different colourings, etc to distinguish their own brand. Different sizes mean different gauges. For example:

All made by the same company but different gauges

Different colours usually manufacturers preference or marketing exercise. Eley for donkeys years used cherry red casings for their game cartridges, and then brought out blue ones for their clay pigeon loads.

To add to the confusion 20 gauge shotgun shells are always yellow because they can cause blockages if accidentally chambered in 12 gauge shotguns.

20 guage being hazardous to 12 guage users are always yellow.

That is, until recently I saw yellow 12 guage italian yellow cases:rolleyes:

i suppose you could still treat yellow as hazardous.
