Wow they know how to charge, think it was ~€43 to enter the Cork City half.

Btw anyone know if it's still possible to collect your number early on the morning of the race as don't fancy driving back/forth to Limerick just to get a piece of paper?
you can only collect on the Friday evening and Saturday as far I know..
Thanks to ger664 I'm sorted :) Glad to have avoided a 200k route trip.

One of us is remembering it wrong then. I've done Limerick only once, in 2012, and from what I remember it was significantly flatter than Dublin. There were a few drags but only one short climb (towards Thomond Park) that was worth mentioning. I'm not sure how the course has changed since then but the map looks reasonably similar.

In fact, my race report from back then contains the line "Limerick is a very flat marathon and none of the climbs is either long or steep".

Limerick is flatter for sure, there's nothing like the long steep enough climbs in Dublin on the course. Most of the climbs are either long gradual drags or very short steep sections.

just registered for the half ... 60.50 including 3.50 booking charge...must be most expensive half in the country!...I know I left it a bit late to register....its the booking charge that infuriated me!

Got the full Marathon for near that price.

No. Just running it as a training run, hoping that I won't do anything particularly stupid and mess up my subsequent training.

Aim for a pb I say.

Might have broke the new table, on phone. I'm just going to jog this I'd say. No idea what kind of shape I'm in at the minute and don't really have the training under my belt to give it welly. Just going to soak up the athomsphere and treat it as a quick long run.

Its my second ever marathon. Looking forward to Sunday now. I'm just hoping to keep up the target pace for a bit longer before cracking this time. In Dublin last year I got to mile 20 comfortably with my target pacers (3:50), but ran out of steam, hobbling home, still happy with overall time. I'm hoping to get a bit further this time before cracking...and hopefully get to the finish line. Reasons for optimism...1 - I've now completed most (80%?) of a training plan. For Dublin, I only put in 9 weeks. 2 - Flat course! 3 - Combined effects of now having done two marathon training cycles may mean I have stronger legs? 4 - It's Limerick! Home town advantage.

Weather looking OK : Variable clouds with a couple of showers, mainly early on. Westerly Wind 17 km/h.

Best of luck to you all.

Not sure of whether to go with the 3:45 or 4:00 pacers. In my training runs I got the 20 miles in 2:50. What do ye think?

  • Registered Users Posts: 536 ✭✭✭Limerick91

With times like that I would seriously consider 3:45

What pace are your midweek runs at

Did DCM 2015 in 4:07. Only marathon. Run mainly 3x10k mid week at under/about 5min km pace. Pb race half is 1:47. Perhaps I'll give the 3:45 pacer a try

How did you feel after those 20 milers at 8:30 pace? Were you flat out? What was your last race time and when?
