No real predictions from me as going to decide on the day based on how I'm feeling.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Looks like a few of yeah will be joining me on the day. I will have a colored balloon with 4:00 wrote on it. Make yourself known at the start

How do you plan to pace ger664
Is it a steady about 9:05 per mile pace or do you start off slower and pick up pace after a few miles

How did you feel after those 20 milers at 8:30 pace? Were you flat out? What was your last race time and when?

Last race was county 4 mile in 28:50mins but that was flat out lol. Did local 20k few weeks ago in 46:40. My 20 miles both started too fast with first 13 miles at 8min pace and then slowed down

That's a huge drop-off on the pace of the long runs, Averaging around 9:30 for the last 6 miles. Just a tip for the next time, run your long runs at least a minute per mile slower than goal marathon pace, preferably even slower than that and the same goes for normal everyday runs. Just for reference, when I was targeting sub-3, my long runs and easy runs were around 8-8.20 per mile.

Your long runs would tell me that you need to very careful. Personally, if it was me, I wouldn't target 3:45. Your weekly mileage is around 38mpw and while ok, would still mean your endurance at the marathon distance is lacking to really nail a perfect marathon time wise. You were overestimating your ability on the long runs so that would also lead me to believe you are doing the same with the marathon (believe me, I've experience with that). The jump from the 4 hour pacers to the 3:45 pacers(don't go with the 3:45 pacers just because they are a pace group) is huge as well. It would probably be a better idea to go out slower and see if you can pick it up later in the race, running a fast 20 miles is not much use if you can't hold it for the last 10k. The odds in the marathon favour the cautious approach big time. It's up to you but that would be my take off the limited info I can see from here.

its my first ever marathon.Have done 8 halfs .2 this year so far. PB in half is 1:41 with 1:48 being my average time. Happy with the training have done 4 20mile+ runs in training but just recovering from a nasty head cold. was hoping for 3:59:59 but will have to wait and see.

Agree El Caballo here. Your time is most likely between 3:50 and 3:55. If you go with the 3:45 pacers please dont swear or throw profanities my way If I pass you late on.

Can someone put me into the list, I don't wanna break it...

Second ever full, did the same one last year... Gonna go with the 3:15 pacers for a while and see if I can keep up, ran all my training runs faster than 3:20 pace so hoping for a small miracle...

    Distance full
    Current pb 3:51:51
    Predicted 3:20

Thanks and best of luck to everyone on Sunday...

just had another look on the 20 milers on Strava again - average pace 8.34. Started too fast by the look of it as was much nearer an 8 min mile for quite a bit of it but ran out of steam. Thanks for the advice - I'll see how I get on.

My last months training should be attached should I pace with ger n the 4 hour or aim a little quicker?

The instructions are even splits the whole way round. That said they wont be exactly 9:08 for every mile but I wont be more then +- 10 sec either way per mile.

training paces are not a good indication, because you could be doing your training runs too fast
what are your recent race times?

You can collect the race packs this evening in UL (I think up to 7pm).
Was out around 5 and while traffic was busy, the "expo" itself was fine. It was bedlam last year on the Saturday.

Aww no wart cream this year but got a nice hand cream instead, nice few people around there about half an hr ago too, traffic was heaving coming out from town though..

Ran this last year in 4:21 really enjoyed the course, I would be hoping to target 4:15 for this year but this would be a struggle running on my own, I know there are pacers at 4 and 4:30, but is there any inbetween ?? Or anyone else in the same boat as myself and we can run as a group??

Just picked up my bib there. Quiet enough now, in and out in 5 minutes. No manic traffic like last year.

Hi. Anyone know if there's a bag drop near the start? Can't see if there is in the map.

Yep, there's a bag drop on O'Connell street just a little up from where the finish line is on the same street.

They've just posted on their Facebook page. It's at the "Project" school, at the junction of Wolfe Tone St and O'Connell avenue, opposite bobby byrne's pub (in case you're not familiar with the area).
    Good luck to all tomorrow.
