Click the " live athelete tracker" that is on the front page and you should be able to get provisional times.

Finished my first 1/2 ever so over the moon. A slow 2hrs 20 mins. Had a bit of a fall near thomond that thankfully didn't wound anything but my pride. Looking forward to my next one

My first road race, doing the half. Was aiming for 1.50 mark, really suffered with blisters from the gaelic grounds in and managed to finish 1.56.13. Very happy with it just to have finished under the 2 mark.

Its given the times with a mile to go. Missing a column.

Finished marathon in 3:21:34, v happy with this, much better than the 3:27 I had in Dublin. Ran the second half quicker than the first, which was good. Course is pretty benevolent, few hills and I can't remember one really bad one, think the one I found hardest was on the way up to Punches Cross.

I see numbers were well down in all events, any idea as to why ?

Its a general trend in a lot of races this year. Road racing events are really at a saturation point and only the ones that look after us runners are going to survive.

The GLR was a lot noted, extremely expensive, but it does as you say Ger,appear to be a bit of a trend... Has the stormy weather anything to do with it ?☺

There was a lot of people complaining last year about a few different problems with the organisers, and being an expensive race maybe people decided to get better value for money. Saying that I think this year was better organised than last year.

Was a bit quick for the first miles as well (should know better by now!) but rallied and enjoyed the last 10 miles relentlessly chatting to a mate. The marshalls kept telling us to stop talking and start running but it made the miles go by much easier. :)

You're telling me. :p I was right behind you for the first mile until we started downhill into the city, you took off and then it was like "Where'd he go?" :D:D

The little sharp hill up to Punch's Cross at about Mile 20 was the start of the end for me. Things started to go "twang" in my thighs over the next 2-3 miles. The last 2-3 miles was a survival trot where I was only running from the knees down. I had been with the 3:45 group for the first half, and let them drift off in front of me as we headed out Rosbrien Road, I thought things were going just fine at my own pace through Dooradoyle and back towards Punch's, but after that it just wasnt fun any more.

I thought it was a great race, well organised, good course, well marshalled, decent atmosphere & support from the public. The drizzly weather for the first hour wasn't ideal, but really made no difference.

The cost and the wart cream last year put me off it this year anyway.:pac:

    Not me Kookie!
Looking back I think the entry fee was high and the goodie bag was poor. It was quite well marshalled until near the end. When I got onto the Ennis Road it was v unclear which lane should be taken, was on the wrong side until I saw some runners ahead. Also people crossing the road in the last 1/2 mile or so wasn't great.
On the plus side it's a fairly gentle course and the weather wasn't nearly as bad as I feared. Also there were so many people giving massages afterwards that there was v little waiting time, which was great.

Also I was worried about parking, but there was no problem there.

Ran well until the spin round the NCR where I started cramping. Held on for the last few miles. But I can't complain as I got a healthy PB.
It was better organised than in previous years but like others have said it's not a cheap race for what you are getting.
I think next year I might try the Relay Marathon.

Think that if the weather immediately after Christmas had not been so bad, I might well be after another 'full'. I really do struggle mentally with darkness and stormy weather. I was only 3 or 4 long Sunday runs away . But the weather was really bad so many Sundays. No regrets though as I really enjoyed the different challenge that the half presented. I may well be more motivated to go 'full distance' again, having 'taken a break' this timeðŸ˜႒

How would the course be described compared to other marathons? Hilly? Flat? Mild? Challenging??

    Wow I found that tough
Thanks ger664 for keeping me on course for 4:00 until the wheels well and truly came off the wagon around mile 18. I knew at the half way stage I was struggling. My legs were tired at 1:59 for half which was 11 minutes slower than my half marathon PB
I thought the new route around Dooradoyle was much better and it was great when struggling coming in by Greenfields to have the Half Marathoners coming against us. Also a good idea to have a separate finish lane for each race so that people got the correct medals. I like the fact that we have a marathon t-shirt as well.
Ok that is me finished with marathons for a few years. Back to half marathons for me
