Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Question is though is it going to be for example someone is on €42k a year so are they now going to be getting €52k a year or they just gonna spread the €42k over 52 weeks instead of 42 weeks.
Yeah, John O'Sullivan had a good article on this a couple of years ago saying that many players prefer 40 week contracts as it gives them a chance to earn extra money during the off season. (assuming that any offer of a 52 week contract is as you say the same money as a 40 week contract spread out over a year).

Could be the case alright, but I know from the way Caulfield has spoken about this at various Foras AGM's that its going to be taken seriously and I dont think it'll be a case of the same wage just split over more weeks. He's extremely passionate about Cork City and the LOI in general and moving to proper full time setup has been a goal of his from the start, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we saw him in a GM/CEO role at the club once he moves on from management.

Great to hear about the year long contracts in Cork, a massive step forward for the league. I'd imagine that Dundalk and Rovers would be the next to follow suit.

If that happened hopefully he would behave himself better in the boardroom than on the touchline.

    I totally forgot about that

He also accused city fans and no evidence was found and don’t know why city didn’t challenge it as they said they searched for it and found nothing - and brays assistant thought he might’ve hears something but it was at a different end iirc - he was getting boos from the fans for his play acting and time wasting

suppose he hears the fans call him ra*ist but hears racist and calls them a racist back...maybe

Or a director of football or something with recruiting players - he’s broughtba good few down to city like Bolger, McCormack, Maguire and others

Heard a few years ago that Dundalk offered to pay players for 52 weeks but they opted for 40 as they could claim UB for the 12 weeks. I don't know how true this is. Afaik Derry City offer their players the longest contracts, they have benefitted pretty well from transfers over the years.

Rumour Shepard to Dundalk to replace McMillan ( to Scotland?).

John and Co. will be living it large in Copenhagen, might even have some left over for the annual Christmas party.

Increased league registration fees that coincidentally offset perfectly each clubs share of that fund.

has McMillan not always said he wanted to keep his job.he left rovers to move back to Dublin to keep working when he was with us a few years ago and that was the reason I’m pretty sure.

Not yet. Apparently it's close to happening though. The club were saying that 52 week contracts were on the cards back in August.

52wk deals are great but I'm also worried it's the beginning of what I feared would happen - A gap forming between the teams that happened to be at the top when UEFA money exploded and the rest of the league. It'll be very hard for Cork, Dundalk & Shams to be knocked out of the top 3 I fear as they are working with so much money compared to the rest.

And the temptation to over spend to try and get into the top 4 increases,
witness Bray this year ( and they nearly made it). I won't be shocked if Waterford go on spending spree this year, but they do have a decent fan base to support the club ( even if they were very poor at fund raising in the past)

The prize money isn't in winning the league at €110,000 but in qualifying for the CL. Bohs and Shels received €400,000 for winning the league less than 10 years ago ( the CL money wasn't as big then) and they both overspent, partially by paying mad money to players.

The gap in the off-season makes it very hard for clubs to offer 52 week contracts. If the season was mid-February to mid-November with one game a week for cup games and FAI cup games with a short summer break would make it a lot easier. Mid week games should really only be for cup-replays or for if a game is postponed for whatever reason

One thing for sure is that the BOM of Foras would never in a million years agreed to this unless it was checked, checked and checked again to make sure we could financially maintain it. As was said above, the UEFA money is now so large that a gap will form between those regularly in Europe and the rest, and it will be very hard to claw into it unless there is private investment.

Looks like the delayed kick off here won't be too bad if Cork beat Pats, guarantees our safety no matter the result.

The delay in the Limerick/Galway game was because Buttimer was not happy with the sleeves. Limerick are wearing green now.

2-0 to Limerick. Massive implications there for the relegation fight if that stays the same.

Pats 3-2 up. Cork hangover set in when they went 2 up!!

Galway should have been 2 or 3 up before Limerick scored.

Of course it's right at the end of the season I realise I can cast my browser window to my TV to watch bwin streams. I'll have forgotten by the time March rolls around I bet.

Galway have had a pen saved. Looked like a soft decision from Buttimer and a poor penalty from Murray. Not the first huge penalty he has missed recently.

Another penalty. Keeper collides with the forward when he comes to punch it. Impossible to tell from the stream if it was a penalty or not.

Galway score this time and it's 2-2. Feck.

Pats and Galway both two down at one stage, could have been a great night for Rovers without kicking a ball.. A win against Derry tomorrow means we only need a point in Drogheda though. It's still in our own hands.

Massive performance from Patrick's after going 2 down!!
Smashing game. Fair play Billy Dennehy. pulled out a big performance when it was needed most.
