Above Dundalk and Shame....I'd like to echo Glados' sentiment

Dundalk poor, Bray were worth their draw. Referee was the best player on the pitch.

Some win from Bohs, good to see Joel Coustrain play the full 90.
Still scoreless in Oriel Park after 80 minutes to my surprise.

Was very poor tonight, the game itself wasn't great but tonight showed why he's only made 9 senior appearances and barely played just over 200mins. Hopefully he improves as the season progresses but at this stage I'd rather Danny Kearns, just hope he stays fit.

Waterford played some outstanding football tonight. Look out for their goals on Monday especially the second. Very surprised by Derry they were negative and terrible on the ball. We totally destroyed them in midfield. Derry were time wasting in the first half which was a bit mad. Thought they would have been much better. Nevertheless a good start for the blues.

    Saw Coulstrain in pre season.

No idea how he is starting for Rovers. Doesn't look good enough for the Premier.

    Gilchrist terrible as well.

Watched him playing schoolboy football and thought here's a lad who'll reach the top level, youngfella was extremely talented. When he signed for Sheffield United was talking with one of his coaches at Corbally United about his move and his words were "give it 3 maybe 4 years and he'll be back in Ireland, technically gifted but if he doesn't learn to pass the ball and realise there's 10 other lads on the team besides him he won't last long in England".

Well, at least its early, probably take a few weeks to get up to speed. Hopefully.

But with 3 away games to start, we need to be picking up points. Can't come out of those 3 games with 0 pts.

We absolutely threw that away at Richmond tonight. Disappointed with the goals we gave away, especially the second. Cummins ran right through our defense without anyone tracking him. You could see it a mile off. Toner ( i think) tried to get a head to it, but seemed to be stretching and couldn't get any proper power on it and Cummins latched on to it. He took it well in fairness.

The red card was the turning point. Cork looked comfortable enough at two up but then obviously sat back after the red without much left up front and we took control of the game.

We had so much possession and control that i just cannot believe we couldn't convert that into some sort of result. McCormack made a couple of good blocks in the box, threw his body in front of the ball. To concede a goal like that straight from a corner for the winner was a sickener, but we only have ourselves to blame, as i said we threw that away.

Owen Garvan was superb in the midfield, he really was. Everything went through him, he opened the play and got stuck in with a few crunching tackles. He has a funny running style that makes him seem injured all the time coupled with the fact he hasn't really any pace, so sometimes it looks like he's not fully match fit. Hopefully he does stay fit and we can get that level of performance throughout the season from him.

Overall, despite the result i'm happy enough with the performance in what was a very entertaining match. We still have Fagan, Killer and Thomas Byrne to come into the squad who were missing tonight. I think we'll have a decent season.

Very sneaky of cork to put waterfords allocation of tickets up for sale on ticmetmaster for anyone to buy. Waterford asked for an allocation of 500 and to be given to us to distribute fairly through the supporters club but no cork being cork they only gave an allocation of 350 and allowed a system to be put in place where now cork fans can by them. Pathetic from them really.

    Enjoy that bandwagon :pac::pac:

If City retain the title by a narrow margin, how big will last night be? Everyone thinks of games in the run in,but would have taken being 2 points behind for most of the 2nd half of last night's game...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭CHealy

Not quiet sure how we got away with 3 points from Richmond last night but what a start for City. Stunned Pats in the first 15 mins scoring 2 goals with 2 atracks, but even when it was 11 v 11 I thought Pats were on top. Sending off changed the whole thing obviously and I would have bitten your hand off for the draw before Sadlier corner went straight in. What a team, they never stopped throwing their bodies on the line. Pats will be good this year, might make a push for Europe.

At Waterford the PA announcer calls for a minutes silence to honour Liam Miller. Ref blows his whistle, PA announcer turns his mic off and the previously playing music kicks up again. We all spend the first 15 seconds of the minutes silence listening to Zombie Nation.

Very good player. Not afraid to take on a defender and he has the skill & pace to beat them. Looking forward to seeing how he does over the next few weeks. Eduardo was alright. Very slow but that is to be expected given his body type (he's a bit chubby) and the fact he's in his 30s. Good vision, passing and he whipped in a few dangerous freekicks as well.

Limerick scored from nothing and it was an undeserved lead. After that we lost our heads and just hoofed it most of the time which was silly given the size advantage Limerick had.

The defense as expected is very fragile. We haven't signed well there. Donelon was injured in training and Roddan was forced to play RB. One injury and we have a midfielder in defense to open the season. Very worrying.

Announced attendance was over 3k which was good to see.

Super start for Munster teams - 3 wins

Terrific attendances all round - Dundalk actually the lowest at 2491, shocked that Dalymount has such a low capacity.

I was at the match last night , disappointed that there appeared no urgency about the side, always seemed to take an extra pass. At times Bray parked the bus , but at other times they looked very sharp upfront, very well organised and homework done on Dundalk.

If we gave Bray €35,000 would they take Dylan Connolly back? :pac:

Sligo v Derry big game already next week, whoever loses likely to be propping up the league.

What is the capacity at Dalymount these days?

3,800 for that match with segregation. Would probably be a bit over 4,000 otherwise.

Will they put Bohs Rovers up on the RTE player? Wouldn't mind watching it again

What is the latest on the redevelopment of Dalymount? The state of Dalymount really for me is shameful considering what the stadium means to football in Ireland being in many ways the historical home of football in Ireland.

Pathetic from them really.

Relations between the clubs aren't the best after the Drinan transfer. It looks City weren't too trusting about giving Waterford (who don't exactly have the most trustworthy ownership at the moment) 350 tickets without the cash up front and Waterford weren't happy to pay it up front. If the clubs can't come to an agreement about this for a match that's likely to sell-out, what other way is there? And at least this way, any fans that live outside of Waterford will be able to easily pick up their tickets without a trek back home to buy in person.

The only thing I don't agree with is City not absorbing the full Ticketmaster charge. It's per ticket €2, but we're only taking the hit on €1.50 and passing 50c onto the Waterford fans. As it's the only way for them to buy tickets, we should be absorbing the full charge.

Also, for all of your talk about it being an unfair distribution system and City fans snapping up all the away end tickets. It's now the fourth day since they went on sale and they're still available online. I think it's fair to say at this stage that any die-hard Waterford fan that's desperate to go to this match has already gotten their ticket.

Didn't create a single chance for him all night so no, wasn't useful. He doesn't contribute anything apart from (hopefully) finishing off moves when we get the ball to him in the box. That's why all the hoofing was so stupid in the 2H. We have Morgan, Wixted, McAleer & Roy in the final 3rd. All small guys who never had a chance against Limerick's defense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,695 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Very even in Sligo with very few chances and nothing much happening until we scored from a cross.

Then Sligo tried to press but were very very limited, mainly just hoofing balls into the box, or else working it wide and crossing directly onto Dennehy's head. If we had better finishers, we could have scored a couple on the break. The winger Roy looked good. We had a few players who did well. Coleman shepherded the defence well, and Kearns did well apart from his deliveries.

    Fantastic crowd there.

And the new roads means that I arrived nearly 2 hours before kickoff!

Cork v Waterford should be a great game next week. Fancy Waterford to get a point after Friday & Cummins suspended. Was very impressed after an average pre-season.

Reynold's changing the system to a 4-4-2 diamond was a very good tactical decision.
Very strong in midfield. Hery was in particular outstanding. Aborah played well too despite being a bit overweight he will collect plenty of cards too. Akinade will cause Cork huge problems. Barry who is poor & Bennett won't be able to handle him.

Sadlier against Feely will be a key battle as well. Feely a great athlete & improving but could struggle.

Really looking foward to the game Friday night. Hopefully City put in a good performance. Man for man apparently Waterford are as good if not better and stopping them from scoring 3 or 4 will be an achievdment in itself as we won't be able to handle their foward line. I really hope the upcoming battering wont dent City's confidence too much. It's a pity Waterford were only allowed 350 as apparently Ticketmaster nearly crashed such was the influx when the tickets went on sale. Not sure I'll even go now, not sure there's much point really.......:(

    Or

The double champions, backed by a vociferous full house, might give their Munster neighbours a bit of a football lesson and drive them back through the tunnel with their tails between their legs. Cant wait for Friday

    Come on City.......Come on City......:pac:

Great to have the league up and running again!! :D

Going to Turners cross Friday night from Tralee. Looking to go into the Waterford section though just for the laugh. Ticketmaster isn’t specifically stating if your in the home or away end (I don’t think) how do I check this for certain?

    Thanks!
