How is Morgan getting on so far?

Re McCabe, I think we were in for him in the close season but he signed a new deal at Sligo.

Any talk of us running away with anything is miles off the mark. We have had a great start, but thats all it is, a start. We have Bohs friday who are something of a bogey side to us. Then away to Dundalk and home to Shamrock the week after.

Ill be delighted if we are still top after that run of games.

Even though I think Dundalk are a far better side than Shamrock, I feel the latter have our number somewhat and certainly do not fear us. Caulfield is very clearly in Kennys head.

Morgan did not look like a player who played in europe or was at a club like liverpool last night but there was no quality balls played to him at all really.

    Great start though.

I think the weather might make a serious dent on the fixture list to be honest. Just hope games are postponed with plenty of notice to be fair to fans and travelling squads.

He played 3 games in Europe.

He has failed at numerous clubs I wouldn't be expecting much from him. Might get about 10 goals but not much else to his game.

The FAI own United Park and we know the boll*cks they made of that last week. Tonight Linerick are in Oriel and if the weather forecast is accurate this match might well be postponed- and if is it should be before Limerick and their supporters are already in Oriel.

Cracking start from City, 9 goals and 9 points from 3 matches (2 away) and 13 goals and another away win if you include the presidents cup match.

Would the artificial turf in Oriel not mean that the game is more likely to go ahead than a game on a natural surface?

Definitely, Oriel can take a pounding, but it’s Limerick and their supporters I was thinking of.

In retrospect it’s a pity that these ‘midweek’ matches weren’t organised on a regional basis ie Sligo/Derry, Cork/Limerick, Bray/Waterford and Bohs, Rovers, Pats and Dundalk in one pot.

Should consider that for all midweek matches?

  • Registered Users Posts: 683 ✭✭✭PhuckHugh

A win for Limerick tonight will be a massive statement and it will be a straight shootout between Cork and Limerick for the league.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,421 ✭✭✭major bill

Kenny Shiels accusing other managers of whinging is hilarious. Mind games aside the game will be tight tonight think Bohs may get their home form right this season so a hopeful 2-1 Bohs and send Mr Shiels on another rant about us not being a ''part-time'' team like we say.

There's no place for practical thinking like that in this league. Off you go now.

what does the new Champions League / Europa League rules mean for League of Ireland ?

Makes reaching the CL Groups stages all but impossible, but increases the likelyhood of getting to EL Group Stages with a bit of luck in the draw, especially through the Champions Route.

Cummins seems a brillant signing for Cork. Looks like they will run away with the title again.
Yeah City gonna walk the league this year
This won't be happening. It'll be a close run thing this year. When we hammer Limerick this evening and beat Cork in a couple of weeks time plenty of people will be changing their tune. It's ridiculous how many people are writing Dundalk off. Even plenty of our own fans. We haven't scored in two games. Big deal. Normal service to be resumed this evening.

with regards Champions league and with the top 4 leagues getting 16 spots guaranteed Cork will have a longer route to qualify, 4 rounds instead of 3 BUT and I may be corrected on this, they are guaranteed 4 games in Europe, if they lose the 1st round CL game they go into the Europa league at whatever stage it is at at the time of the draw.

think 3 teams in EL all start in the first round too.

It means UEFA don't give a f*ck about anyone outside the richest clubs.

Correct, should we lose our CL Qualifier we will drop into the EL at a newly formed Champions section where all the losers from CL will be drawn against each other. Cork City guaranteed at least 4 European games this summer, really happy that 2/3rds of the season will be played by then.

yeah maybe any C.L qualification hope is over... but increased Europa league would be a major boost.

The Off The Ball guys and RTE certainly are not writing off Dundalk. People on both shows referred to Dundalk, who only won a league cup in 2017, as Irelands best team. Im sure this is down to the fact that both organisations love SK.

That truly is. I bit of projection there I think on Kenny Shiels part given how much whinging he does.

Not too confident of getting anything from tonight's game in Dalymount.

    And we need pts badly.

Derry been a bit unlucky with the weather.

Same for both teams but conditions tonight & at Waterford really don't suit their game.

Dundalk surely win tonight. Limerick missing a few & can even field a full bench.

They love him because he's lovely. Nice dusting of snow on the hallowed Oriel Park pitch but apart from that it's pretty nice evening (for now). Prediction- 3-0 to Dundalk. Hoban (2), Benson.

Not a bad prediction Hoban 7 minute, Benson 10 minute.......plenty of time for Paddy to hit number 3

Never expected anything from this game but injury has really made things worse, shows how wafer thin the squad is that you've got 3 wingers in midfield and 3 defenders on the bench. Just hope everyone's grand for the weekend or we'll get a worse hiding than Bray did.

Yes he's playing right full he is doing fine but getting exposed a little because we are playing with a diamond midfield so not much protection in front of him. Early days yet but doing grand except for a little spell against cork.

The Lithuanian international comes of the bench and scores! 5-0

1 - 1 Bohs and Derry, both goals scored in the 60th min!

    6 for Dundalk now! Duffy!

Absolutely archetypal Bohs. Follow up a derby with a late equaliser in Limerick and a defeat to bottom side Derry. They'll now get a result in Cork and lose to Cabinteely and Pats

I fully expect Bohs to give us a very tough game on Friday, weather permitting of course.

Felt a bit sorry for Limerick in the end. Truly a case of boys against men. Mark O'Sullivan in particular will be crying tears into his pillow this evening after the abuse he got for most of the second half.

Hoban's second goal the pick of the bunch. Mazy run followed by a clinical finish. The Hobanator is back. Kenny ate the bollix off him after he showed some petulance when he was substituted. Threw a tracksuit top at him I think.

Meanwhile Gartland must be getting a bit worried about getting back into the team again. Cleary and Folan very assured at the back. I know they had it easy this evening but you can tell already Cleary is a class act. Tough game in the Brandywell on Friday then the big one against Cork.
