Fantastic news for Dundalk to be fair.

Hopefully they invest the Europa money into the pitch and then the surrounding stands too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭White Horse

With the lease back how much work can the club do? It is still owned by the Casey family so are they free to upgrade the stands as well to try to get it up to european standards and not have to use tallaght again?

The lease from the Casey family was a mechanism of protecting the stadium from potential exploitation by future owners of the club.

It is a long term lease at nominal rent.

A strange way to use money. Would UCC not be better off reducing fees to students or expanding access to education.

From what I hear the yearly figure is and as a selfish City fan who only went to CIT, I couldnt give a fcuk about UCC reducing fee's to students or expanding access to education.

Meenan turned up to training Hungover in the summer and hasn't had a look in since

Heard that alright. Great dead ball delivery. Scored direct from a corner against Wexford when they were 2 - 1 down in Oriel earlier in the year, but definitely out of flavour for the last few months. In 2014 his deliverys from corners/free kicks and crosses were why Pat Hoban scored 20 odd goals.

In fairness to him he is probably the best dead ball specialist in the league. His problems begin when the ball is moving. I'm being a wee bit harsh on him as for the most part he's given his all for the club but at the end of the day he is just too frustrating.

He seemed to have lost the ability to take on a player on the outside. He kept coming inside and losing the ball. His dead ball delivery remained very good.

Dundalk are much more tactical this year and his lack of versatility was obvious. It is a good move for both parties and he can do a good job at Shamrock Rovers.

Cork City, Dundalk, St. Patrick’s Athletic, Shamrock Rovers and UCD will each receive €11,750 through UEFA's Financial Fair Play payments redistribution system for the 2015/16 season.

That's some of the euro money (well) spent. Taxman was (probably still will) going to get a slice of the action too. Everybody else please form an orderly queue :)

These are the updated plans for the Brandywell according to the Derry News. They were originally building a full stand similar to Tallaght or Athlone's ground, now it's more like the away stand in Market's Field. Seems pointless to even bother spending the money at this stage if this is what they will end up with.

Typical crap. Show plans then scale back once work begins. Seen it with Tallaght and Markets Field and it will happen to Dalymount too. How much is that costing?

Does this mean that the Brandywell will be pretty much as it has been for years, albeit with an artificial rather than grass pitch?

Rogers re-signing for Dundalk allegedly so that's that snippet of insider info i received binned, along with any chance of me believing that source again...

Rovers still badly need a keeper & striker, todays Indo makes reference to us signing Fagan but mention Dundalk & Bray being in the running also... so he'll probably stay at Pats.

Be disappointed in that. Goalie is an area we should be looking to improve.

Dundalk, Rovers, Pats, Cork, Bray and Limerick have all made Fagan an offer. Realistically if he was to leave Pats he'll end up at either Dundalk or Rovers.

Chris Lyons to Shels just confirmed by the club. Don't know what to think, he seems to move around a lot.

Should be grand at first division level though.

I've heard that alright that Limerick are looking at Fagan too but has been more noise around here of Kilduff to Limerick but hinges on whether Fagan joins Dundalk or not.

Didnt his wife come out this morning and say its rubbish? They will most likely end up somewhere else in America or Australia, he can still demand a large wage in these places.

Paper never refused ink, the only way I'd imagine him near Tallaght stadium is when he's passing to visit his ma.

Realistically Bray if the rumour wage is true. Money and long term 52 week contracts talk.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,254 ✭✭✭joeysoap

If Bray are offering that kind of money

    A) there's big money in bathrooms

    Or

    B) they are betting the shop in getting into Europe ( usually top 4)

If the rumours of Fagan being offered 2k per week for 52 weeks are true. That's over 100k for the year to realistically play infront of a crowd of not much more than one thousand people.

First round of the EL is worth 210k.
Not only would they be betting the farm on Europe they would then probably need to progress to the PO round at a minimum just to cover their wage bill.

It seems to be back to the bad all days and it's count down until the likes of Bray, Waterford and Limerick go tits up.

Maybe the Fagan wage offer is taking into account Connolly being sold. I could see Bray getting 75k for Connolly since Dundalk are interested.

If the Richie Towell experience has taught us anything its that there`s a massive step up from LOI to Championship/EPL. Being successful here means nothing.

Sunderland would stand out as somewhere that there`ll be a lot of players sold/moved on if and when they go down. That would probably be his best chance to get first team football and he`d also get a chance to find his feet in the Championship.

The lesson from Richie going to Brighton is to make sure you are going to club that needs you.

Exactly. Bray would not only need to qualify for Europe (which would be difficult), but they would probably need to progress through a round or two if the owner wanted to make any kind of decent profit. Crazy idea and if it's all true I cannot see it ending well. Waterford is the same, the owner there seems to have seen how Dundalk have become a success and thought that they will replicate that, the LoI is not somewhere an investor will make a quick buck and if someone was to even try it would probably end badly for the club.

He'd have a few quid in his arse pocket, so I guess any of them. If he played in Austria that would have given teams a good idea. Would love to see him make it at West Ham though but I'm being totally biased there.

Doesn't look good as the chairman has blatantly lied and has failed to respond to these - even when outed in a response interview on 98FM recently.

A big and warranted move by RI. Realistically, I could see at 50% of our current support supporting this boycott which would see attendances of 200-300 and Shelbourne Football Club in it's current form no more.

Could be all for the best in the end. Realistically Shelbourne have no future in Dalymount.
Cutting their losses now and rebooting in an area where they have a decent chance of growing a fan base seems the best option to me.
If they don't come back there simply isn't an appetite for 6 Dublin clubs.

From anyone I've talked to its more to do with transparency and honesty (which we've seen very little of) then an outright 'f*ck you we're not moving'. Different people will have different viewpoints on this.
