I've been having tonnes of fun building foam board planes based on plans from Flitetest.com If you havent already seen them go check em out. Flitetest provide free plans and build videos which detail every tiny step. They have a huge variety of models Many of their planes are swappable, meaning that one set of electronics can quickly be switched between planes.

I've built/flown/crashed/rebuilt loads of them and had a whole heap of fun doing so. Just wondering if anyone else on here has too? Check out some of their you tube videos too. These guys are nuts!!

Yea, I built a Versa Wing and a Simple Soarer last year. Good fun to build, I see on on of their last videos that they are coming out with their own waterproof Foamboard. Could be very useful for our weather if we could get it here!

Was building a 120% scale blunt nose versa as a large FPV wing, but I had to leave the airframe in the UK when I came back to Ireland last month. Might get around to building a new one at some stage to play with a Ardupilot/Pixhawk.

I might build a few of the Mighty Minis this year, they look like fun for how cheap the bits are.

The mighty minis are great. Here's a pic of the MM Mustang which I built recently. I did a little more detail than the plans. Thats the beauty of these. You can take them as far as your skill/patience allows.

here's another recent built. The FT Mini Trainer.

A real simple flyer, great for a beginner.

I'm currently working on a mini spitfire. Its the first time I've built without a printed plan. I've taken the FT spitfire wing, downscaled it, designed a fuse along the lines of the MM Mustang but with the classic spitfire shape. I like how this is going so I plan to super detail it.

here's a pic of the WIP.

Just wondering where do ye get the foam to build these? I find it hard to get the paper lined foam they require

I get my board from Evans Art Supplies.

This is the stuff I use for the smaller planes.

For the larger ones I use 5mm as per the plans.

Got stuff from these before. They do a deal on bulk buys over 10 sheets.

No connection but might suit those down south

Can these take any wind though or do you have to wait for the few days we have in the year that are calm? Thanks.
