Apple repair new IMEI

Sent my 6s plus back to apple for a screen repair, it is being returned to me but with a new imei, assume they are sending me a refurb replacement, is that standard?

You are getting a replacement phone.
I sent my 6 back for freezing issues and I got a new phone. I sent the GF's back for a screen replacement also, €100 to fix but she got a new phone also.
