Every kid I know loves it.

Why do we always think that family films have to talk down to kids by inserting stupidity, needless laughs or some afwul saccharine cutesy BS?

[oldman]In my day, films that kids could enjoy included 'Jaws', 'Close Encounters', Raiders of the Lost Ark' and the original 'Star Wars'. All of the original blockbuster films that are the template for everything you see now. But, none of them were "kiddified". No filmmaker worried about the kids not enjoying their film.[/oldman]

Kids are more than capable of processing "serious" stuff. Maybe the under 5's might get lost, but they're be lost at most films, even ones that are directly aimed at them.

That’s not my point; Rogue One is a much darker proposition. In my view, it’s not suitable for a 6 year old whereas I happily brought a couple of 6 year olds to Force Awakens/Last Jedi.

The hammerhead can hit that star destroyer cos it’s been hit just a few minutes before before ion bombs from Y wings knocking out all its systems including shields.

Youd think the empire would have a reliable failsafe. Eye roll.

Ah right. Well, at least there's a sort of logic there.

Chewie and the Falcon? Naw, no way and I'd be genuinely surprised if they were both offed. For one, Chewie is a walking carpet that doesn't require expensive multimovie contracts, and the iconography of the Falcon alone makes it arguably untouchable. For the same reason you'll never see the Enterprise, TARDIS et al redesigned or canned in other franchises, there's too much goodwill and marketing dollars attached to the Falcon to destroy it; especially if that Solo prequel is any kind of success

Didn't stop them destroying the delorean at the end of BTTF 3

The 6 year old I know loved it.

In fact, 6 year old me probably would have loved it too.

Sure, it's more "serious". But I don't think there's anything in there that a 6 year could process with great ease. It would probably depend on the 6 year old though.

So many great cuts in this film.

Luke saying it’s time for the Jedi to end. Shirking all his responsiblity and then
Cut straight to what looks like a nothing scene where nothing happens but it’s Leia sitting alone stressing and worrying about what is she going to do where is she going to take them to get to safety. Complete opposites.

    Just brilliant.

Am I the only sharp person here or did anybody else notice lack of red salt movement and footprint under Lukes feet when he was standing off against Ben, before it was revealed that he was a Force hologram

No it was obvious, sorry to burst your bubble

You were delighted to burst his bubble. That’s why you burst it.

His comment shows one thing. People here are going back a second time.

    Can’t imagine why. Chuckle.

Maybe because they are sheep fans
Maybe because one of the lads hadnt seen it and he went along
There is countless reasons above it being a good movie, sorry if i have to burst your bubble

The Last Jedi is on a hiding to nothing; their mandate is to craft a movie that both five year olds and 40-something Star Wars nerds will love; I’m not sure that’s even possible.

You mean like the original trilogy?

Ya see, i loved that he turns up spooks kilo and comes out with "See ya around kid"

    He's in Kilo's head now, he's running scared, he's been spooked :D

It’s also something You could imagine Han saying rather than luke. He’s double kicked him in the balls.

Luke's Force ghost haunting Kylo would open up some interesting story directions. Like maybe Luke will keep appealing to Ben's good side, while Rey is convinced that he's lost and needs to be destroyed, reversing ROTJ's dynamic. Also a good way to put Rey and Kylo at loggerheads while letting Luke resume his familiar saviour role and maybe satisfying some of the fan upset.

how do leia get back into the ship, it didn't appear like these ships had force fields to create sealed areas like in star trek

Think there is a containment field but mainly she uses the force. First time we’ve seen her physically use the force but she has used it previously in Empire ROTJ and TFA albeit telepathically/ empathically

Saw this twice on Thursday and Friday in Cineworld.
    Not better on second viewing.

I vote Domnhall Gleeson and Laura Dern for the razzies.
Both performances are 'out of this world' bad, (yes, pun intended).

Really? That’s odd. Most people think she was pretty good. Shame to have her go out like that. Would have been cool to have her now Carries gone.

Hux pulls some evil sh!t in this that goes unnoticed mostly too. He destroys the resistance medical frigate and then goes for his blaster to kill kylo when he’s down in the throne room but you almost miss it it’s very subtle.
