a lot of the new canon books and comics are dealing with that period exactly.. Claudia Grays Bloodline is probably the best SW book ive read..Chuck Wendigs Aftermath 1&2 do it as well but not as succesfully in 1..reading the 2nd one right now.

Perhaps. But I've no time for getting into EU books really. I don't want to put in the effort TBH. I just see no point if they can be discarded at a whim.

The two i mentioned arent EU though and are part of the storyline..

Rian Johnson collaborated with Claudia gray on Bloodline as it relates directly to events in force awakens and episode 8. Id say read it if you want a lot more of the questions you were left with after FA filled out plus it sets up things for 8, but we dont know what yet.

If it's not on the screen though, I'm not that interested any more, to put it bluntly David. I'm not going to go out of my way to find out who Poe Dameron's folks were, for example.

Only a tiny fraction of the audience for Star Wars films are also readers of the comics and books, or players of the games. The reality is that they don't really count to 95% of the cinema audience.

The simple thing is that if the film makers want something bolted onto their story, they put it on celluloid (or digital these days), because that's where the story is for most people.

Although, in saying that, 'Bloodline' looks interesting.

it's not pulp fiction ****e writing..it's a really really good read. She nailed the story and found leias and Han's voice & character really well. and the plot is a winner.

    Surely Han's funeral

Does is require spoiler tags if its conjecture?

I think she is (perhaps) confirming a rumour so perhaps spoilers just in case? Just respecting other posters.

I called this after we saw FA.

If 8 opens where 7 left off. We can still have the classic star destroyer opening. Shuttle pops out and cut to the island and Rey meeting Luke. They have a chat Then They see the shuttle coming(or Luke senses it) Kylo lands with the Knights of ren.

This is exactly what they filmed and Johnson says a large chunk of the film was filmed in Ireland, meaning ach to so I'm guessing it'll open with that scene we heard of a big battle. Luke wiping all the Knights out and Rey fighting Kylo and him running when he realises he's on his own against Luke.

    What yis reckon?

My theory is that is Episode 8 will actually begin before TFA's ending. So we'll get introduced to Luke dealing with something, and then in the middle of it or shortly after, Rey will turn up. It's the easiest way to get us back to that Luke/Rey moment while still doing the traditional opening crawl/pan down.

Sorta clashes with Rian Johnson saying it starts exactly where we left it though. And what would he be dealing with? He's just standing there with his hood up. Though if you look close when Rey is walking through the 'temple' you can see her looking at a teapot and a box. So he's clearly living there. Maybe he senses them coming as well as sensing her.

The FA novel says that kylo is badly injured and can't walk after his duel with Rey. Sorta kills my theory.
