Jaysis. The repeal the 8th debate hasn’t a patch on the last Jedi debate :)

The hurt this film has caused some will run deeper and last longer than anything the Brits ever done to us ;)

If more Luke is added I’ll give it a watch. Other than that probably not.

Probably get more cantobite scenes knowing Disney and Rian.

There’s one on there. I think it’s extended chase with the space horses.
That scene isn’t actually that long in the film but I’m not sure anyone wants an extended cut of it :) I don’t.

Watched it again last night. Enjoyed it again & actually thought it held up better on second viewing than TFA did.
Will watch it again when the blue Ray arrives.

For anyone who is into it the doco on the extras, The Director and the Jedi, is the best making of doco I can remember since the LOTR ones. It’s packed with all the good stuff. And has such an all access in-depth eye and so many brilliant insights and moments, and it’s 90minutes.

Gonna get hung but it’s probably more enjoyable than the film, but these documentaries often are. It’s really something special if you get a chance to see it, definitely do.

The other features are excellent too especially the one about the Force and a lot of the controversial decisions are in there. Eye opening.

I watched TFA last night and I just started TLJ there now and I had to stop. That opening scene with General Hux is so bad, so out of character, slapstick and not the general hux from TFA. It's so so bad and doesn't fit at all. So cringe.

If you look at him as a loudmouth obnoxious self important blow hard it sorta makes sense. He’s full of it on the stage but when it counts and has to actually lead he’s completely incompetent and a total joke to all underneath him.

It's a horrendous way to start any film, let alone the Last Jedi - even a Vince Vaughan comedy would baulk at a conference call gag - but the action scene that proceeds it? Genuinely fantastic, tense set-piece that is leaps & bounds beyond any equivalents in Episode VII (and the prequels too at that), and for thrills legitimately stands alongside something like the Battle of Hoth. I can forgive any joke that bad, when it's followed by an event that good.

It’s up there with space battle in ROTJ and Rogue one for sure. And putting it up front was really brave.

Saw the alternative opening and it didn’t work.its completely different and no battle. Way better the way they went.

Mark Hamill will be appearing on the Late Late Show on Friday night. We can expect many sentiments about how and why he loves Ireland and questions about Episode IX, which will be answered with "I don't know".

I like Hamill, but a lot of the time I can't tell if he is putting on a show. He feels a bit like a product advertising itself which knows its audience very, very well, so as to never put a foot wrong. I feel like you come away with nothing from his interviews, pure surface level material instantly forgettable.

Will probably watch the interview on the RTE player next week.

I'd say Hamill can't believe his luck with his new found super stardom at 66.

He's having a laugh with whole stupid thing and fair play. I loved his little admonishments to Johnson/Disney...Jake Skywalker and all that. Feckin brilliant. :pac:

He seems like a sound enough lad. Game for a laugh and all that.

Have to say, I prefer him to Ford, which for me is an about face. When I was a kid Solo was the man and I never was really that bothered with Luke. Nowadays, I think Ford is a bit of a dick and I couldn't care less what he thinks about either Solo or Star Wars.

He’s definitely got a public persona and is loving being back in the limelight but more power to him. Nothing mean spirited or cynical about him at all and that’s some trick after many years in the wilderness career wise.

It’s mad but I reckon people will enjoy the extras on the home release more than the film. Some amazing stuff on there like this.

The Director and the Jedi was great. Genuinely welled up watching Mark and Carrie act out their scene near the end.

Wish it had a bit on the post production process though, would love to have seen how it all came together.

Also, Ram seems like a complete hero.

She’s full on crying in that scene. It was so hard to watch in the doco

Anyone see Hamill on the late late? Ryan actually did really well for once. But Hamill just charmed the pants off us all :)

Watched it again last night. I've reverted to my original rating of 3/10, it's a mess of a film, and an awful let-down.

    The extras look good though.

Not gonna lie. I’m enjoying the making of more than the film. But it’s a stunning beautiful piece of filmmaking all on its own. It’s easily up there with the lord of the rings making of docos and that’s the highest praise possible.

This should have been left in. I can’t think of a reason why it wouldn’t be. He’s mourning han.

Re-watched it there the other night as well and my opinion if anything has deteriorated further.

Leaving aside the juvenile "yo momma" jokes and "Super Leia", the entire thing grinds to a halt for the Finn/Rose romance and trip to Casino World and its aftermath. Once the escape from the cruiser and Kylo taking over comes into play it gets better again (but not really significantly so either - still FAR too much of the angry irritating Emo in the character).

Luke.. well Hamil does what he can and the scene between him and Leia was nice and his showdown with Ren was good enough, but overall the message is very clear - we want rid of the old guard ASAP so we can get on with our new characters to do whatever we want with without the "baggage" of the original films.

I had to struggle through the film over 2 sittings. The aforementioned Finn/Casino World nonsense really kills the film IMO and I ended up just skipping through that entire sequence and the infiltration of the Order flagship in the end.

I was never really THAT into Star Wars anyway if I'm honest (more Trek), but I grew up with and enjoyed the originals and watched the prequels as they were released and them all a few times since... but Disney have killed the entire spirit of the series with these new films IMO (exception being Rogue One which I enjoyed), and I am certainly NOT looking forward to the Marvel-style run of spin-off character movies every year with an ensemble "main series" film every two :(

Pre ordered my copy on Amazon, had a look at the reviews and I'm now worried I've ordered the worst film ever made that's going to destroy everything I ever liked about Star Wars. It's apparently so bad, people who really hate the movie keep watching it over and over again so they can describe every little horrific morsel in graphic detail.

I cant believe this movie has ruined so many people's childhoods that they can never ever enjoy a Star Wars movie again. (even the original good ones)

And can you imagine the stunned horror on the faces of all those millions of kids coming out of the cinema, looking up at their parents sobbing and crying uncontrollably at the loss of their childhoods. After all, they only went out to see a movie before this tragedy struck.

Luckily enough, TLJ didn't ruin my childhood, so I suppose that makes me a Star Wars survivor.

I heard long time before the film came out through the grapevine that Domhnall was not at all a fan of the direction Hux was going.

Yeah I wonder was the direction he was taken was in response to Johnson getting **** from those Russian bots on twitter about hux. He seemed kinda freaked out about it in that doco.
