update time , bit behind with this thread due to the site being down , ill try and keep ye up to date ,

so we put chemical metal where any repairs had been done to the cab , this will be flattened out and a light skim of filler applied before the painting process begins .

today i spent most of the day prepping the front axle for paint , there was a bucket of grease hiding in all the nooks and crannies but she is all clean now , the electrician has fitted the isolator switch , yes it is upside down but that is for access when the side panel is on , he also fitted a new beacon mount to the rear of the cab

so now we have most of the rubbing down nearly done so i started masking off the front axle and other bits ready for the chocolate , we also have the cab rubbed down and ready for primer just waiting on a few bits and it should be all systems go for paint on monday hopefully .

so its saturdays update time again and today we got all the panels and " terracotta " bits rubbed down and prepped ready for priming , we also got the back wheels masked off ready for same , some of the more eagle eyed of you will have noticed that i haven't tackled the front wheels yet this is because the owner is waiting on new tyres and we are waiting to break down the rims until the new tyres are fitted to avoid damaging the freshly painted rims afterwards if this makes sense , anyway pictures .

then when everything got a real good clean with panel wipe and tack cloths it was time to start priming , we use sparex " synthetic primer " all the time and find it great , its very forgiving but really highlights and bumps or blemishes that may have been missed during the rubbing down stage , more pics .

so when the primer had dried ( and yes the brother rubbed down that nasty run on the bonnet lol ) we started applying a 50 / 50 mix of body shuts ( stone chip ) and waxoil to the inside of the wings , we also made sure to get a rel good coating in all the nooks and crannys and where we had welded in the new sections of steel to the mudguard .

sorry about the shaky pictures , no i wasn't drinking , i had to try and hold a light for the brother and take pics at the same time and i ended up getting the phone covered in body shuts ha ha .

hi everyone back with an update at last !!

today we got the full set of front weights that were on the fiat when she came new , i got stuck into them and gave them a good washing before wire brushing them thoroughly and treating them with " metal prep " rust preventer .

all my posts seem to be loading twice !!!! any one else having this problem ??

we also got stuck into some of the other bits like steps and front guard etc and got them all rubbed down ready for primer and chocolate next week .

the brother had painted the chocolate on the front axle during the week so i got a few sneaky snaps before he masked her up fully !

the owner was down this morning and he spotted a wee bit of rust on the inner wing inside the cab which he wanted done so we tackled that and also done a job on the front lights which had gotten very white and cloudy over the years so we washed them out with white spirits and got them ready for paint .

so it was now time to get stuck into the terracotta , we are only doing all the panels now and maybe the cab during the week .

Is that a hospital bed you are using as a worktable? Great idea!! You can even adjust the height!

and finally for today we blew in the inner wings with terracotta , wasn't sure how this would look over the body shuts but i think it came out nice and those extra layers of paint will stand to the rust proofing for years to come hopefully .

just a wee update for today , we got the weights in primer during the week and put the chocolate on them yesterday , they came out really well , hope to start the terracotta on the cab on saturday .

we also got the wheels painted in the proper fiat " pure white " the proper color for this age tractor , and got the headlights and brackets painted in Matt black and gold just to brighten them up a bit .

well we got at the cab today as promised , we gave it 4 full coats of terracotta just to be sure and i do think she looks well but its hard to tell under the artificial light , the daylight will tell the tale for sure , any way we started by erecting a temporary scaffolding which we had to move around to each side of the cab as the brother sprayed it , tricky enough for each coat but it worked out well , some pictures .

small update for today , we have started assembling the cab etc , i am going back at it tonight so i will have more pictures tomorrow .

few photos from last nights late one , we have most of the interior back in and starting to get the glass back in , the brother was working on the doors refitting the rubbers and locks etc , hope to have more pics Saturday evening .

so we are also doing a full restoration on a FORD 5030 at the same time , it was meant to start before Christmas but time constraints limited this but we have decided that with the fiat being so far on we could get stuck into the ford now aswell .

its time for Saturdays update again guys , we got the new front tyres during the week and had them fitted to the rims so we got them rubbed down and prepped for paint yesterday and got them painted today , we also painted all the wheels studs and nuts satin silver , photos .

they came out very nice , yes that is the fiat hiding under all that plastic sheeting , don't want any off spray on the new paint !! we also got a new LED beacon for the roof this week and we invested in a few new fire extinguishers for the workshop , safety first and all that kind of thing .

then it was time to re-assemble the rear wheels and get them back on the tractor .

that's it for now because we were also flat out at the ford 5030 today as well , check my other thread for updates shortly , the glass is going back into the fiat on Monday and we can really get stuck into re-assembly then she should be in great shape by next week , i have the seat going off to pj Kerr in timahone co laoise for reupholstering on Monday so should hav4e that back by the end of the week too , stay tuned for more news .

thanks lad , funny enough that you should mention that i had a chap approach me last year wanting to do a pilot episode to air to the discovery channel , a kind of a fly on the wall time lapse thing of a full build from start to finish , he said he would be back when he could secure some funding so who knows ha ha , we could be the next tuetuls !!!!! :(:P
