Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

so we got her pulled out today and gave her a good wash and a wee run down the road to check for any leaks or anything else untoward , we also want to re torque the wheels bolts after a wee run just to make sure they don't come loose .

Hard to believe that a 17 year old trator could look so good. The owner won't believe his eyes.

It will be a shame to get it dirty!! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 895 ✭✭✭greendragon3

thanks for all the kind comments guys , the owner hasn't seen it yet so hopefully he will be happy with her , i know it would be a shame to dirty it but it is still a working tractor at the end of the day so she will have to earn her keep balling and wrapping for the summer , in fairness to the owner it never got any abuse over the years and was always well maintained and cared for so if it gets the same treatment now it will last him for another 20 years no bother .

That is epic!! They really stand the test of time when you see one that good. Top work GD. Not many in the country doing work like that on large tractors. I tip my hat to you sir!

To be fair to the owner, it looked pretty much spot on before the rebuild. Nothing damaged or bent out of shape etc.
Not taking anything away from the work done though.

If that tractor was traded to a dealer, it would have got a spot of filler around the windscreen, A quick run with the spray gun and out the door so its great to see such a detailed strip down and rebuild.

Green dragon, what is the green thing near the drivers right arm rest? I know you have a high standard of work so know it's not there without a reason or story behind it.

well spotted lad , i think its for controls for the wrapper or baler im just not too sure , i know she spends most of her time doing either or both , it was on the tractor when it came so i put it back on in case it is needed .

Yeah that's a bracket for wrapper controls. Seen many of them I'm my day

Have a home made one here for our old wrapper as well

What would be a fair estimate for work such as that to be done?
GD probably isn't half paid for the work he does.
Is it even practical to have such a job a carried out at full commercial rates?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,704 Mod ✭✭✭✭blue5000

Well done GD, straight stainless exhaust and she'll be finished. Much trouble with electrics/dash lights?

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Silly question, but t would a stainless one be painted black?

The angle is following the angles of the bodywork and imo it works.
