Lidl were very hit and miss when they had a Super Saturday offer, but it returns this Saturday and Sunday with the following offers:

    250 g Salmon fillets Normally €3.79 offer price €1.89
Light Cranberry Juice 1L Normally 99c offer price 49c
    SIMPLY SUMPTUOUS® Luxury
    Fruit/ Fruit & Nut Muesli 750g Normally €1.99 offer price 99c

    W5 Dishwasher tablets 60's Normally €3.89 offer price €1.89

    6507wk01_01_s.jpg

    87860wk01_01_f.jpg

The dishwasher tablets are a great buy at 3.2c a tablet

Not sure if this is the same Lidl dishwasher tablet
    http://money.aol.co.uk/2014/02/24/dishes-done-best-by-lidl-and-aldi-which/

"The Which? top performer was Fairy Platinum at 84/100 but at a very pricey 40p per wash.
To put that in context, use one Fairy Platinum tablet a day and that's £146 a year.
Alternatively, snap up Lidl's All in One tablets - which scored 80 out of 100"

(I'm unsure if there is more than 1 type of dishwasher tablet in Lidl)

As per Bagels post below: it isn't the dishwasher tablet I linked to above, but hopefully will work fine .

The tablets in the above photo consist of detergent only. The recommended type for my dishwasher is the 'detergent only' type. We add the rinse aid and water-softening salt separately.

The tablets in this link http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/6320.htm?action=showDetail&id=15710 are their 'all in one' tablets that consist of detergent, rinse aid and salt. These are the ones highly praised in the article you've linked to in your post.

The 'detergent only' tablets pictured in your post are the ones on offer this weekend.

I use those tablets and will snap up a few boxes if there's any left, they work well and are good value even when full price...

Yes, they do what it says on the tin, as the saying goes. A genuine bargain even when full price.

The 80% lean beef mince on offer makes a nice burger. 2 packs will give you 15 quarter pounder burgers for €3.60 (plus seasonings obviously). Great deal and always handy to have a few in the freezer!

I just made a batch of burgers last week and paid the €3.59 per pack :(.

4 ply toilet roll be like wiping your arse with a towel. That'll definitely block up a few toilets I reckon.

That's a fact...especially when someone in the house has to mummify their hand before wiping...

Bit OT but Lidl in Athy is doing 20% off everything in-store except for non-food and alcohol. They are doing it for 10 days until 20th as Aldi has just opened here today.

    Great price for those meatballs.

    A thing we go for....
When Lidl have their 'italian' weeks, the range of sauces are perfect for this.
The one with the black lid I linked is their ricotta sauce & it goes perfectly with these meatballs.

with some Lidl Spaghetti & an onion & you've got a top notch spaghetti & meatballs on the cheap.

Lord knows what was ground up into them.

Did anybody succeed in getting the lamb fillet 'special' that was supposed to be available on the 21st March, about €9 or €9 per kilo. I couldn't find any so I emailed customer services but got nowhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,762 ✭✭✭jive

Lord knows what was ground up into them.

They're probably just made from fatty beef mince, 20% fat or so I'd guess. And that's grand for meatballs, lean meat would just get dried out whereas those, while higher in calories, will still be nice. I'm sure there's something else added to keep them together but nothing major or untoward, they'll likely be making a loss on them but using them to get people in to do their shop in LIDL.

Lord knows what was ground up into them.

Well instead of your usual poo-pooing of everything with sly digs and "witty" comments, why don't you look it up?

    They're fully traceable.

Traceable and grade A mean nothing. Especially in Ireland. It's not long ago it was all horse and where do all the stolen livestock end up?

    They're just tag lines.

Head over to farming forum and look at them poo poo over more tag lines.

Those meatballs are fine - had them a few times, about 10% saturated fat if I remember correctly.

You can get Hereford beef ones for a euro extra. Might try them next time.

Keep an eye out for Argus Strong from Poland. €1.50 / 500ml cans, 7.2% ABV. Lovely stuff.

Like the green bottle Perlenbacher myself. Have been keeping and eye out for the XXL deal to come back in. It was around 6 weeks ago since the last deal.

I too am waiting for the XXL Perlenbacher although I do find the new green bottles are slightly sweeter than the old brown bottles. If they do the XXL boxes though I won't be complaining!! Here's hoping.........
