I only discovered these a couple weeks ago, they're pretty much a great replica of Nestle Oats and More. Guess I'll be stocking up that weekend :p

How much is excise duty on wine now? Lidl must be close to losing money selling @ €3.66.

They ARE losing money at that. IIRC duty + VAT gives a minimum price of ~€3.80 - before you even pay for the product! Their cheap stuff that's €3.99 all the time is undoubtedly a loss leader too.

    Wouldn't that be illegal?

No, the grocery order is gone years ago, if you are talking about below cost selling.

I hope the offers settle down/improve again in September. They did last year from what I remember.

I remember in 2017 the offers were fine up until about June. The products sort of slipped and the reductions weren't as good not all were 50% off..Then they improved again in September.
The same happened this June so I'm just hoping they'll improve again in September.
I have no idea why this happened they remained 50% off on Nothern Ireland from my research.

My mother loves the Birds Eye chicken fillets in tempura batter. Lidl were selling them last week at €1.99 per pack of 2. Went to Iceland directly afterwards and they were selling the exact same ones at €5 for 5 packs  The chap stacking the shelves says they always have them at this price as it's one of their best sellers.

It's a offer they don't promote well enough.

Is it not the same as the Aldi one?

Chip shop is a weird tasting one you wouldn't really make curry with, more for over stuff

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭d31b0y

Oh, I wouldn't be making an actual curry with it. I meant it's grand for chips.
Not sure if it's like the Aldi one tbh.
