Hey! Has anyone been on a J1 in Hawaii? 3 of us are heading there this summer and just wondering what's the best place to go? Any advice and info would be great!

    Hi!
Myself and my best friend have been doing a bit of research over the last few days!! We are going to head out this summer from late may to august :D we are both first timers too but so far we've found...
    1. flights with usit are quoted at €1,300 return and go4less are about €1,500
    2. we have jobs sorted in waikiki - it's the main city in Oahu - it's right on waikiki beach :D Maui (one of the neighbouring islands) is supposed to be gorgeous, but very, very quiet. We are planning on taking a trip there definitely tho. Return inter island flights are like €50!
    3. Rate of pay is amazing, but cost of living is higher too so it kinda balances out.
    4. way less irish people than the other cities - we want to make american friends!! (we've both been on drinking holidays with college friends and want something different!!)
    5. it looks class for a J1. accommodation may be slightly harder... the plan for now is hostel for the first few days till we meet people to live with :P

Hawaii is basically 3 months of heat, beaches, surfing, swimming with turtles, waterfalls, volcanoes, skydiving, scuba-diving and driving around hawaii for us!!
