What kind of work do you want to do in whatever industry you wind up in? What are your qualifications?

I wouldn't put management consulting - that's quite a specific role. Information systems could fit your list of preferred jobs, but as previous poster said, what is your main qualification in?

I'm looking to get away from my main qualification and I think I'm young enough to do so since I could be working for another 40 years.

I also have a postgraduate masters in computers but am open to working in banking etc. Looking at doing an advanced excel certificate at the moment.

Just wish LinkedIn wouldn't force an industry upon you.

When LinkedIn say "industry" they don't mean it in the same way we often use the word. It's more like choosing your main area of expertise. For example I work in the marketing department of a company that sells office supplies (thrilling I know). I don't put "office supplies" as my industry, I put "marketing" or something similar.

That's why we've been asking after your main qualification. So you need to decide on what kind of work you want to do. Even from a normal job-seeking perspective, taking LinkedIn out of the equation, you need to narrow your focus a bit. Employers aren't big fans of people who will do any oul work, they'd much rather someone who really wants to do X kind of work.

Choose the one which you think you are most likely to get a job in.

The qualification can show that you can learn. More relevant than you'd think.

Not an attractive option since I'm looking at alternatives.

LinkedIn is not being very helpful here in this scenario which I am sure is relatively common place.
