Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I remember last year Ireland were performing the first night. I was full sure they were going to get through because all of the other songs were shyte. Much like tonight.
They must do it on purpose, and have the majority of forgettable songs on the first night.

Im guessing Thurday will be far more entertaining.

I bet there's people in Ireland trying to vote.

Didn't see the greek song live. Looked like an olympic flame lighting ceremony at olympia.

Malta I think was the best song; the majority of the songs were muck. Shame Ireland wasn't in this semi-final as Thursday's one will have much better entries.

No it will not,the majority of them will be rubbish just like tonight.

    Fair 'nuff, I'm not arguing.

Just channelling Marty's "the most successful country never to have won".

Sh!te I was hoping to vote for Austria

Didn't hear all the songs tonight as I was having dinner.

I thought Malta was the best song; Shame I couldn't vote for it tonight though. :(

Whatever happened to sitting on a stool and singing a ditty? Dana and Johnny Logan did alright by it.....

It's a televisual contest now. The optics have a big impact on votes IMO.

Although the Australian entrant does a fair amount of sitting from the clips I've seen.

Surprising night. The ones that I thought would storm it were disappointing (Russia. Malta, Azerbaijan) and then there were ones that seemed so so at first and then knocked it out of the park. (Iceland, Armena, hungary)

    My prediction:
    Armenia
    Russia
    Hungary
    Croatia
    Netherlands
    Czech Republic
    Malta
    Austria
    Iceland
    Azerbaijan

    Wildcard: Cyprus

I didn't really think that comment about living in Sweden back in the 70's was very appropriate.

Those sort of clips and the interval act in the final were as terrible last time in Sweden.

That Petra one annoys me so f*cking much.

    San Mario.

If you think we couldn't afford to host it, their population wouldn't even half fill Croke Park.

What on earth was that? Why did they walk into the audience? That was weird.

Ok, so here's my predictions to qualify, revised from a couple of weeks ago:

    In:
    Russia
    Armenia
    Iceland
    Malta
    Azerbaijan
    Netherlands
    Cyprus
    Hungary
    Czech republic
    Croatia

I'm pretty confident of the first seven. Azerbaijan were borderline before tonight but I think the backing singers really pulled Samra over the line. Hungary is a bit risky but they really impressed me tonight. The last two I'm not so confident of, but the Czech Republic should do very well with the juries, whilst I think Croatia will sneak over the line as well due to the juries, despite the fact I think it was a bit of a mess tonight.

    Out:
    Finland
    Moldova
    Montenegro
    Austria
    Estonia
    San Marino
    Greece
    Bosnia-Herzegovina

I'm reasonably confident the first six won't get in. I also think Greece won't get in for the first time ever. I mean, surely not right? It's absolute horsesh*te. Bosnia is borderline, but whilst I think they'll get more of the Balkan vote than Croatia, Croatia will get more support from the juries to pull them over the line and help sink Bosnia. I really can't see any sensible juries voting for the Bosnian song... right?!

I think it is about the migrant crisis, and the grey people represent the people who come from bombed cities, grey from the dust.
