Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Three Day Weekend - Cork, Galway, or Belfast? Food, Drinks, and Antiques

Hi. My wife and I would like to do a quick three day getaway to either Cork, Galway, or Belfast in the next couple of weeks. We are Americans (in our 40s) who've been living in Dublin for the last three years. Looking for a bit of music and drinks at night, and perhaps a few antique shops during the day. She'd like to visit the water/beach, if possible? Any suggestions? We haven't been to Belfast ever, and haven't visited Cork or Galway in 10 years or so...

We'd be taking the train in, so would be without a car.

    Thanks!

I would take the train from Dublin to Cork and then the bus from Cork to Kinsale. Even in the winter and while some of the restaurants are closed there is still plenty going on. See www.kinsale.ie for some ideas.

Galway ticks all the boxes on this one.

Nothing wrong with Belfast, it's a great place, but you won't get much Sterling for your Euro right now. Plus it is a city not very near to the sea.

Cork is a great place, but again, not near the sea.

Galway has great pubs with music, lovely restaurants, a fabulous walk out by the Claddagh all the way to Salthill right on the seafront, and if you are lucky and walk towards evening, you can catch a spectacular sunset. The train pulls right into the centre at Eyre Square. You can also take a day trip to Connemara and Kylemore Abbey and Leenane. Very reasonable cost and the scenery is spectacular.

    Have a good time.
