    The book, 6th extinction would also be a good resource that delves into the effects humankind have had on the geological record.

    Yep, local extinctions, particularly of large mammals is nigh on a sure sign modern humans moved into an new region. We don't see that we pre modern humans at all. They seemed to hit a predator/prey/population size equilibrium pretty rapidly and extinctions don't occur.

    Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
