Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Pato and Sturridge cont....

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/daniel-sturridge-battling-liverpool-career-7148877
Daniel Sturridge is battling to save his Liverpool career.

The Kop crock has played only 106 minutes of football for new manager Jurgen Klopp – and he was again missing when Liverpool drew 2-2 with Exeter in the FA Cup on Friday night.

Klopp has become increasingly frustrated with Sturridge ’s injury record and Liverpool are ready to listen to offers of around £25million.

I think someone last night said he looked nervous. Don't know where they got that out of, he looked seriously comfortable on the ball. I was seriously impressed by him more than anyone last night. (I knew Tex and Smith were good already)

Sorry,Harry...I'm still in stitches about you saying he'd have to play 20 games in a row. As if that would ever happen.

Thanks. Wasn't quite sure. Not looking forward to it much tbh. I don't know what sort of a team we are at the minute...we could lose 4-0 or just as easily win 4-0.

Thought he started out well, got a bit selfish before becoming anonymous. But himself and Tex were the two most impressive players last night.

He's the one i have the most hope for. A good athlete as well as a player which is rare. He's also apparently crazy dedicated in training which made the comments from the Wolves boss more ridiculous.

Ya he was very bright for the first half an hour. Faded very badly though but I wouldn't be too worried about that, given his age.

Though no doubt we'll have to cover at least half his current wage for about 4 years.

    25m for Sturridge.

    Take it and run!

Not before adequate strikers are brought in though

Who would take him though, 25M for a striker that will probably play about 3 games for them in a season....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,053 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

I would'nt take 25m for Sturridge, he's the closest thing to a world class player we have in the squad.
Yes injuries and what not but we've layed out a big investment in him up to now and it would be a shame to let him go cheap and someone else get his best years out of him.

Theres 8 or 9 players i'd move onwards before looking at Sturridge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,948 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

I'd take it if the money was to go towards a suitable, top striker like Lacazette/Aubameyang.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,053 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

What i'd be afraid of is someone coming in (looking at you Stoke!) with a cheeky 12m bid, a 'get your money back' sort of offer and the money men at the club going for it, that would sicken me, it would sicken me more than losing Suarez or Sterling, at least with them we got their value in transfer fees even if a few years down the road it transpired that we sold them a little cheap.

A bit shocked at Klopp, resting players and playing 'kids' (although the team cost over 45m) in a cup competition the pool could win so that he can try to get a result in a league he can't really do anything in against the league leaders just so he can say they can compete with the best. Playing up to the fans instead of doing what's actually best, this type of behaviour is a bit cowardly in my opinion.

As for pato, pool have already taking too many punts on these may come good players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,629 ✭✭✭googled eyes

I hate to say it but if any reasonable offer came in for Sturridge I think the club should talk it.

Even if the offer is only 20m. He plays only a handful of games a season and is on big money.

World class or not the club cannot afford this. Especially if it is partly a mental block ( him afraid to rush back etc) with his injuries

Can't even imagine any football team that would want to sign him now.

Wheelchair rugby teams on the other hand...

So let me get this right, we should be playing our best team against a league 2 outfit in the third round of the cup on a bog of a pitch, the same best team that had 7 or 8 first team members crocked with injuries?

Oh and we can't do anything in the league? Well what hope have we of winning the cup playing against the same teams we play in the leauge!?

To call Klopp a coward for his team selection the last time out is probably the most baffling thing i've read on this thread in a long time.

We'll look for 20 million...nobody will bite and he will end up on loan in the retirement home league on one of those loan deals they specialise in.
