Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great to see Suarez back yet again and I hope Klopp was tapping him up for the 2018-19 season and that he wife was checking out local schools. But it was probably Suarez tapping up Coutinho for Barca in 2017-18. Or sooner if Neymar goes to City this summer.

If he keeps playing like he is this season, there's no chance Barca would look at Coutinho.

Premier League clubs have agreed a £30 cap on all away tickets for the next three seasons. Superb news.

    Suarez vs Couthino
Loser has to move clubs???? The risk is just too much, regardless of the chance of Suarez back

Milner out for tomorrow apparently, sent home with man flu.

Also Chirivella has signed a new contract.

Spent too long in his early shower on Sunday. Also heating doesn't come until after the match in the dressing in Shelhurst.

Shame that, just as he was starting to make a real impact. He single-handedly swayed the game in our favour last Sunday.

So a Can Allen Henderson middle or drop Coutinho back maybe - play Firmino and Lallana behind the striker.

Jaysis, Rafa, you have so much to live for, DON'T DO IT!

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/mar/09/steve-mcclaren-newcastle-rafa-benitez
Steve McClaren is scheduled to take training at Newcastle United on Thursday morning but, with the club quietly confident that Rafael Benítez can be persuaded to take over, the state of limbo surrounding the manager’s position at St James’ Park may not endure for too much longer.

McClaren is acutely conscious that the relegation-threatened club are talking to Benítez’s representatives about the former Liverpool and Real Madrid manager succeeding him on an initial 10-game contract with a view to a longer deal but the former England coach will wait to be sacked rather than resign.

    ...

Jesus that seems like a disaster in the making...imagine Rafa working with the likes of Mike Ashley, he'll go postal!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

I reckon he would fall out with Ashley during the contract signing.

Ashley isn't one for the cold hard facts.

Only good thing he's ever done is make those huge Sports Direct mugs.

Ironic, because he is a huge Sports Direct mug.

    All about money
So much tv money at stake for Newcastle
If Mike wants to give Rafa few million for 10 games then Rafa should take it.

Listened to the Under Pressure podcast on Anfield Index and Firmino's stats are pretty impressive, an assist or goal every 98 minutes, Ozil is 102, Mahrez in the 80's. For a player new in the league and had time out with an injury, good going. What makes him more impressive is his pressing, running and tackling stats, better than any other PL attacker.

I'd say he'd be up there with, whisper it, Suarez's first 12 months or so stats. Obviously he'll not reach the heights of Luis, but if only we'd bought him after Suarez went.

Anyway, he's starting to show his Bundesliga stats in the PL which for somebody only here 9 months or so is pretty good going. If only for Mahrez and Payet he'd be getting a lot more praise.

Under the radar suits the side right now I think, if Firmino is being underestimated that's good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,041 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Indeed, i think it was before the league game against city last week, Ian Wright was on BT Sport saying he didn't know what Firmino was and that he doesn't get any goals or assists and so shouldn't be playing around the striker. Typically enough Firmino got 1 of each in the next 90 minutes.

It's easy for a player to end up under the radar as the majority of people don't have time to watch other teams, so are taking the word of the pundits as fact, who themselves don't seem to watch anywhere near as much football as they should.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭ush

Under the radar? Clubs analyse their opponents. Firmino won't go unnoticed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,182 ✭✭✭Sappy404

Predictably enough, the press are talking about Liverpool competing with United for transfer targets today. Both clubs in for Timo Horn, Mario Gotze and Jonas Hector apparently.

Beards really are a no no, I mean that Palace player the other day, I was laughing as much as I was crying when he scored.

Having a non English ref might be good. Might call the elbows from Fellaini instead of letting him get away with every single one

No Flanagan. It would have been great to have had that local passion in these two games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,056 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

Forgot about Flanno not being registered, real shame, need someone to 'set the tone' early on like he did against St£rling.

If we play as good as we can like against City etc we'll run them off the park we have more quality than they do in almost every area, but as we all know those kind of games have been few and far between this year.

Don't think Milner will play, think he missed training yesterday with a virus. Moreno for Flanno and Lallana for Milner in the above I'd say, though I'd love to see Origi given a chance

I was really looking forward to tonight's game, now the thought of Moreno and Lannana both playing down the left has me ****ting my pants, at least Milner offers some protection to the LB.

Ah i can see it now, utd counter and play everything down their right hand side, lannana will be hiding in the dressing room and Moreno will be on the floor at their corner flag rolling around complaining of a broken haircut...the joy :D
