I hate to say it but if any reasonable offer came in for Sturridge I think the club should talk it.

Even if the offer is only 20m. He plays only a handful of games a season and is on big money.

World class or not the club cannot afford this. Especially if it is partly a mental block ( him afraid to rush back etc) with his injuries

I'd take 10 so long as we didn't have to keep paying wages.

And I'd rather take it now than risk another 6 months and have his value dwindle further.

You can never know what'll happen - maybe he'll magically get better, but we can't afford to wait around for him anymore.

    Take it and run!

Not before adequate strikers are brought in though

Why so? The only difference between selling him today or keeping him would be £25m in the bank. You cant miss a striker you dont have.

I doubt hes going anywhere anyway. The wages are the issue. Cant see anyone giving him £100,000+ a week to possibly only play 10 games a season and why would he leave to earn less money?

    When's Origi back?

And in the meantime who should we play up front? I'd like to work Ojo into the team a little more, see how he gets on.

After the Utd game I think, as for this week, well the team picks itself really.

    Mignolet,
    Clyne, Moreno, Toure,
    Lucas, Can, Allen,
    Lallana, Firmino and Benteke

Need to find a CB or move Can back and hope Milner is ready for a full game

There are plenty of clubs that would pay the £25m for Sturridge even gambling on his injuries because of the money staying in the PL brings it's the £150k a week they wouldn't pay.

Does anyone think we would really consider signing Pato?
He's on loan from one brazilian team to another, id be very worried if we were wasting money like that

I don't see it tbh. Sturridge is the last player you'd want to gamble on to help you stay up over the next few months. If he's ever gonna get back to 100% fitness, it will be next season.

Wages aside, I don't see the logic in signing Sturridge as a relegation saving signing at all. They'd be looking for someone who will hit the ground running, not one they'll have to molly coddle for God knows how long.

It's a little more than a Ilori, aspas or luis alberto with the reward absolutely huge if the risk pays off.

I would applaud the club for taking a risk at wasting money on this.

I'm just fed up of these premier league proven players from lesser sides who amount to nothing more than flashes in the pan who got their big move.

I want excitement and risk not lallana or benteke.

Have we not made enough mistakes the last 2 years in the transfer market??

We'd be pretty much guaranteed to lose if we started with that team. Starting with 10 men is a recipe for disaster. ;)

We have went with the safe options most the time and surprise surprise the performances have been average.

Lallana, benteke, lovren, lambert, downing, Carroll, Adam. These are not liverpool players.

I want edgy, flair, arrogant players like suarez, like Sturridge. Where are the characters in this squad? Give me a carra, a mascherano, a kuyt or a Bellamy. Where is that will to win, the will to go on to greater things?

Klopp knows the squad is full of lame ducks, the purge is coming.

We don't need to spend a fortune on these so called premiership proven players but Pato seems to be on the way down. He's got alot of criticism from the fans of his current club and the fact he ended up there in the first place isn't a great sign.
Is there no undervalued or up and coming player we could get from the italian, german or spanish league or maybe someone who's not getting enough game time at a club with great options

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

These links to Pato seem to have around since before Klopp arrived so I wonder was a deal set in place last summer as the Brazilian league just ended in December.

I still can't see us signing Pato. Seems to be the type of persistent rumour that is entirely made up as opposed to the persistent rumour that turns out to be true.

I like that though a player with something to prove. Granted Sturridge is a crock I'd buy him again tomorrow morning for what he has contributed. We spent £12m on him and I still think he has been worth it. Most people looked at Liverpool with 10 heads when they bought him, mainly over his attitude.

Suarez we knew when we bought him he was controversial and volatile probably why he was so cheap. He had the will to win though and the obvious talent.

Coutinho, a young player at a big club struggling to get games but with outrageous technical skills.

All the talk when FSG came in was moneyball, I wish they stuck to it more because those have been our success stories.

I would rather us persist with a player from the academy then piss money away on another lallana. Thankfully klopp knows this too.

Not too keen on Pato, being honest. He's a bit Bojan-y.

10 goals in 30+ games in Brazilian league this year, and didn't make the squad for a Brazilian national team that started Firmino up front on his own.

There's nothing really to get excited about here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,309 ✭✭✭T-K-O

I would have to agree on Pato, I was never exactly sold on him when he was at Milan.

But...if we somehow managed to sell mario , Pato could take his spot in the squad..one punt at a time. .

I doubt it. I reckon he will save it all for a book, which should make for some interesting reading, although will be best read with plenty of salt.

    Grujic
Speaking to Red Star TV, Grujic thanked his new employers for their understanding in letting him return to the club in pursuit of the Serbian title.

“Klopp wanted me to join Liverpool immediately because they have injury problems, but I didn’t want to leave Red Star before we win the title,” he said.

“I guess they understand me, they put themselves in my position, and after the title with my beloved club, I will be full of confidence to have success in Liverpool.

“Klopp also told me to stay focused in the next six months, to watch out what I eat and not to rest more than two to three weeks after the season. Then we have the pre-season tour in America.”

There's not a chance any club would pay £25m for Sturridge, but if there is one, find them. The bloke doesn't play for Liverpool anymore, might as well double our money on him.
