Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My alternative table would suggest 77/78 will win the league so I'd say 68 or so will get 4th.

Arsenal lost 8 in 10/11 with 68 points.

How is the alternative table looking now?

    I read somewhere that it has Liverpool 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th.

I'll update it tomorrow, last one was 2 games ago. Lose or draw tomorrow we'll have lost a fair few points on it.

I'm confident for a win tomorrow, especially if we get out of the blocks as fast as we did against Arsenal. We ran them ragged in the first 20 minutes and would have wrapped that game up before half time if it wasn't for Migs brain farts.

United are impotent in attack so theres no reason why we can't beat them at home. They can be hard to break down but the intensity of the game will help us a lot imo. We just scored 3 goals against Arsenal at home which is a turnaround from what we've seen at Anfield so far this season.

Firmino for man of the match.

I think we'll actually struggle tomorrow.
Going on previous games against weaker opposition, we've generally found it difficult to break down a side that park the bus. I can't see tomorrow being any different.

To win a team only needs to finish with a points total higher than the team in the #2 spot.

For example, Arsenal's Invincibles accumulated 90 points to win the league in 2003/4. Chelsea only managed 79 points, so in reality 80 points would have been enough for Arsenal to win the league trophy that season.

This season Arsenal, Leicester and Man City are on form for a 79/80 points finish.

OK then, 81 would been enough to win it if you ignore the team that got more than 81 points those seasons. I know what you are trying to say, but it only applies to the team that won the league so isn't relevant to us at all.

Leicester one win since Boxing day but still manage to reclaim top spot.
They are in decline yet rose to the top.

Man U won one game since Nov
I think we can beat them
I expect 25 mins in game will be over

    Big game for Henderson
Needs to take someone out early
    Set the tone
No need to go to ground
Shoulder charge someone with extreme force
Send them flying to the ground
Can't get sent off for that

Henderson doesnt have it in him, we really need the 3 pts here if we are to have any slight chance of 4th, i think it will be 2 -2 though

If Van Gaal's time at United passes without us beating them I'll be properly pissed off
Worried if we do beat them they'll sack him :(

    It'll probably end up draw.

Fellini from a set-piece then a late goal by Benteke.

I thought it was obvious that I was saying that you only need a single point more than an opponent to finish ahead of them. :) The points total the team in first place accumulated is of no relevance to anything, all that matters is that they got a single point more than the team who finished second.

The teams that finished with more than 81 points in those seasons didn't need the additional points in most cases in order to win the league. The same total was sufficient to win the league in 12 of the last 20 seasons. 2011/12 is the only season in the same period when 90 points would have been required to win the Premier League title on points and not goal difference.

It's relevant to us because that is the type of form that Liverpool needs in order get fourth place in the league this season. In terms of real numbers it means winning 5 out of every 7 games for the remainder of the season. Presently the form of the team is around 3 wins and a draw in every 7 games.

It remains a possibility but not a likely outcome. If we win the game tomorrow then we will drop Man Utd into the very same situation.

Just a heads up for anyone that has any interest in betting on theses games.

PP are offering two "free" €5 in play bets on today's game if you place a €20 or more bet before KO, odds have to be 1/2 or greater.

    I'm thinking €20 on draw @ 21/10.

Then in play €5 on felleni to score 1st @ 12/1.

    And €5 on 1-1 @ 11/2.

Spurs are a one-man team up top

An injury to Kane or loss of form and they'll fall back. Stay fit and in form and they should keep top 4 easy enough.

To an extent yes but I think you are doing their defence a disservice there, 18 goals conceded in 22 games is exceptional form. Lot to be said for a settled defence and quality keeper who dosent **** himself.

If you have a very good keeper and very good striker that can make up for a lot of shortcomings. Add a stable defence and a settled squad/manager and it shows that top 4 can be achieved with a bit of time, quality, stability and planning in the EPL.

Having Giggs in charge would be even better than having Van Gaal in charge....he'd finish them off completely.
