Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just spend the bloody money. Hasn't the messing with Willian, Mkhitaryan, Konoplyanka, etc taught us anything.. We'll recoup it in the summer when we offload the players Klopp doesn't rate.

We should be adding 1 new first team player in each window. This is the only way we'll close the skill gap to the Top 4.

Deals aren't as simple as that and there are often other factors than money.

Also, Konoplyanka, was not Liverpool's fault at all as was well known at the time.

Mickey Tiernan was probably not Liverpools fault either, he eventually joined an exciting team playing Champions league football with a fantastic manager. Sometimes throwing money at a problem is not the answer.

Teixeira missed another day of training. Initial bid rejected. #LFC have to up the bid & sign without a medical. Riskey, but it could be late.

Not a huge fan of signing without a medical, can't see that happening anyways.

Signing without a medical is a major red flag and should either result in the club walking away from the deal or negotiating a serious discount to reflect the massive risk they are being asked to take on.

Are we able to return him and get our money back or will they only give is store credit?

After turning down Remy for 8 million due to apparent findings in his medical the owners will not sanction a deal without a medical for any player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,101 ✭✭✭AidySevenfold

Yep, if anyone has Twitter you can check his profile out and see pictures after Teixeira did his hamstring. He thinks Shaktar will sell but will downplay the extent of his hamstring injury. Warning signs definately blinking...

That tweet is ridiculous he has a hamstring injury not a torn ACL. You can still do a thorough medical, a hamstring strain isn't a serious injury. It serious medical conditions or extensive muscle damage due to injury that they look for in a medical. Liverpool would hardly sign a player especially one that cost £30m without one.

Absolutely, with all that money being thrown at these players could they not fly a few Red Sox doctors up for a medical or something?

Can see a backlash against the owners and ayre if we muck up this deal or chelsea pip us to another player again.

If we buy an injured player, we deserve everything we get.

you couldn't blame FSG/Ayre for walking away if Shaktar are looking for more money and no medical

Allardyce is looking for a new keeper. Any chance he'll re-sign Mignolet to Sunderland for us??

This will go one of two ways.

We sign him without the medical and he turns into another Sturridge.

Another team signs him without the medical and he turns out great.

I don't believe a transfer can go through without a medical, I would say there are compliance and insurance issues.

That Twitter lad is a chancer like most of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,181 ✭✭✭Sappy404

Petrosyan is the guy who was 100% sure a deal was done for his 'friend' Mkhitaryan. He might well know more than most about the lad's current injury, but it's pure guesswork on his part if he's suggesting the lad would have to be signed without a medical.

Transfers have been done previously without medicals.
Although I doubt that is the case in this situation.

That's a sure sign you've been supporting Liverpool for too long.

In fairness, though, we've surely become the worlds best football club for dealing with hamstring injuries with the dealings we've had over the last few months.

There will be no backlash. The Owners and Ayre got us Jurgen Klopp only 3 months ago, and as a result have secured a significant period immune to backlashery.

Sturridge: Liverpool striker out for 10 more days
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will be absent for at least another 10 days as he continues to battle injury.
Sturridge, who has made only 10 Premier League starts since the beginning of last season, has not played since injuring a hamstring on 6 December.
Manager Jurgen Klopp says he will be patient over the England forward, 26.
"Out of responsibility, we have to do everything we can to give him the physical strength to be able to play Premier League football," Klopp said.

"To have a player like Daniel in your squad is always a good situation, and when it's not possible to use him, it's not a good situation.
"He's not with the team at the moment. But we have enough games this season when we hopefully can use him but not, if nothing happens, for at least the next 10 days," he added.
Sturridge, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea for £12m in January 2013, has suffered a series of injury troubles during his time at Anfield.
He suffered four separate setbacks last season, including a torn hip muscle that required surgery, and has managed just six appearances in all competitions this term.

With the second leg of the League Cup on Tuesday I wonder will Klopp field a slightly weakened/youthful side for Norwich? be a pity to pick up a few more knocks to the more important players like Firmino, Can, Sakho etc against Norwich in a game that hardly matter in terms of a top 4 finish (as that ship has sailed)

I don't like this logic to be honest.

Professional footballers should be enthusiastic and more than capable of playing two games a week (which is all they do, it's hardly ever 3 a week as many say).

Worst was last season when Rodgers rested players in CL against Real Madrid for a league game against Chelsea. A shameful team selection that insulted the clubs reputation and also interrupted form and momentum. It was the beginniing of the end for me as far as Rodgers was concerned.

Klopp's regime requires a good squad of players though. The days of sure it's only 2 games a week is over.

The PL now is drastically different from even 10 years ago. Rafa knew then that you have to have a squad of 15/16 minimum and the work rate and athleticism even since then has sky rocketed.

Put it this way, the pressing and sprinting has gone up significantly from Rodgers time and we still aren't that close to Klopp's Dortmund days. The sane type of improvement is required again. To do that and cope with loads of games, high intensity training, inevitable injuries and drops in form, ideally you'd need a good squad of about 20 players.

Clyne as an extreme example has the most minutes played of any player in the top 5 European leagues, Moreno very high up as well. We should have cover there so that aren't expected to play 2 or 3 games in a week as it's asking for injuries. Can has played a lot too.

While that's true, what's funny is that the team performed fairly well that night too.

It's true we still need depth, which is amazing really when you consider the last 7/8 of Rodgers transfers seemed to be about just that.

I think Klopp will use the kids a fair bit now though. Teixera, Smith and Ojo all look good. Also, Flanno is back!

It most definitely has, 1 point out of 9 in January killed it, we were 2 points ahead of United in the last table I did at the end of the year.

    Arsenal -
    City - 2.5
    Spurs - 6.5
    United - 7
    Liverpool - 13.5
    Southampton - 15.5
    Chelsea - 20.5

Spurs didn't do great either, lost 3 points which is basically the Leicester loss. Leicester still on 0 as well, the same result keeping them joint top.

About 70 points will get 4th based on this. For Leicester I think holding their own against the othe rest of the top 5 will be huge as the Spurs result showed. Get 3 or 4 points there and hold their own against the rest and they've a right chance.

Wouldn't agree with resting anyone tomorrow but being enthusiastic and capable won't prevent them from picking up knocks.

And it's pure hyperbole to say that about the selection for the Madrid game. The team had been playing sh*te in the weeks before and people were crying out for the likes of Gerrard to be dropped. The shameful thing was that he restored the dropped players back to the first team the next game.
